Hi, I'm a vinyl junkie & travelling to the USA in april.
Just wanted to know the best vinyl shops in LA, Las Vegas & San Francisco.
Looking for dubstep especially, but also hiphop, reggae & D&B.
I already heard from Amoeba Records in SF. Yes I know google, but getting way to many results...

Amoeba in LA might be worth a stop too.

depends on what you're looking for. i wouldn't expect to find any decent older catalog dubstep at Amoeba LA but they do have newer stuff. their used hip hop section is busty like Kat Dennings. smaller DnB section but worthy of a look through. might even let your fingers walk through the whole electronic section if you have extra time.

If you're in San Francisco check out the Amoeba on Haight if it's the last thing you do in your life. it's paradise! there's also Streetlight in the Castro, Grooves in the Mission on Market... frequency 8 is/ was right across the street (not sure if is still around) and if you're into hard psy-trance that's the spot

but if i was industrious man, I'd catch a short ride over the bridge and maybe hit up Telegraph in Berkeley. Cool thing about telegraph is there's like 3 record shops you can walk and cruise through on one street. Although... pretty disappointingly... I went through them all maybe 4 or 5 months back with a hope for finding any old school Deep Medi classics and i maybe found 10-12 used records that were even remotely dubstep through all three stores.

I picked up the Compa 12" on Boka at Amoeba on Telegraph last week. If you are looking for hip hop, you're sure to come out with some gems at Amoeba on Height.

On a comletely different note, make sure to try lots of beer's on the west coast as I did when I traveled to Belgium!

Haha, don't know if I'll like the beers there..I'm used to drink the Belgian ones, so there is a high standard, but I'll give it a try

For comparison to your own brews, try Lost Abbey (great Belgian styles, and I hear one of the best stouts produced, the Serpent's Stout) and Bruery (lots of different Saisons).

North Coast, Sierra Nevada, and New Belgium all have good belgian styles. We are more well know for our IPA's, maybe try a belgian style IPA like La Chouffle Houblon before you come over to get in your element.

Damnation too (for Belgian-style beer.) Still, nothing beats Tripel Karmeliet.

Also, besides all of the aforementioned fine vinyl establishments in San Francisco be sure to check out Red Sky Records for sure - THE dubstep spot pretty much. Also check out Groove Merchant, Black Pancake, and Jack's. And if you're looking for stuff beyond EDM releases, check out Rooky Ricardo's, Grooves, and Recycled. There are some spots that are even more hole-in-the-wall with old 78's and shit like that too, if you're looking for it...
