getting my monitors off the desk a bit...

My RP8's are currently sitting in my desk..i know that they should be on stands or something, but im skint..The problem is they sound very bassy vibrating off my desk, is there some lil trick to sort this out, they just need to be raised slighly off the desk if you get me. I will invest in stands at some point..just not right now..=./
Anyone got ne tips?

u got money for RP8s but cant aford a score for foam wedges?

bricks.
cardboard boxes with old t-shirts in them.
the old bricks-and-a-shelf trick.
foam is overrated under your monitors. if you've gotta have them against a wall, foam between the monz and the wall will help.
otherwise, auralex is making a super-easy $39 off of each sucker who thinks they need those monitor pads.
all you need to isolate your monitor vibrations are mass (ie, bricks) and some dampening material (ie, old tshirts).

Get some cheap stands, man. It'll be way worth it.
I got a used pair of quality
KK Audio stands for $30 on ebay from a studio sale, and they're ace. Filled them up with sand and it made them completely isolated from the floor, and heavy enough that there's no way in hell they'll be knocked over.
If you're on a zero budget, grab some bricks and stack them up. Makes perfect isolating stands.

I got a pair of nice heavy solid plastic computer monitor (screen) stands. They work pretty good. The monitors could be four to six inches higher though ... gotta buy a pair of desktop speaker stands that will take the weight and size of my speakers (8" - they are fairly heavy. Got no room in my studio room for floor stands.

bricks with blutack top and bottom to keep em firmly mounted. does the job. cheap.

get some squash balls and cut them in half
they sell similar things and they work dam well

think ima give the ol brick method a try for the moment, till i get some $$ for some decent stands..
