After a brief stint spent reconfiguring its sonic operations,
Aquatic Lab returns to the fray with its twelfth release. LAB012 sees the highly-touted return of original South London don
Cluekid. Two years since his last Aquatic Lab twelve (‘The Sound’/’Late Nights’), the perennial favourite of DMZ and FWD>> returns with a big plate that’s bang on the money. It finds Cluekid on a fresh, colourful tip – ensuring Aquatic Lab’s re-emergence as one of bass music’s key international players.
The eyes-down bliss of ‘After the Storm’ is a smooth liquid roller, which rides a glistening veneer of Silkie-esque turquoise synths and a soulful mid-tempo groove. Underpinned by a stunning escapist melody, Cluekid delves deep on this slow-jam, which sways between clean piano vibes and floating bassweight with unrivalled conviction.
The flipside of ‘Cyber Funk’ blends a hefty slice of watercolour dancehall with streetwise urban bass-pressure. This pummelling bruiser sprints through a swarm of hi-hats and a thick coat of ‘verb, with sporadic bursts of melody espousing the confident sonic progression of one of dubstep’s finest innovators.
Exclusive to the digital release are two additional tracks – ‘Minimals’ and ‘River Troll’ – which both find Cluekid on a dark dungeon flex akin to V.I.V.E.K and J:Kenzo.

I certainly love these tracks insanely, especially the sexy melodic ones, that aren't on the deep dungeon tip (but I actually find these great too). However, I must bitch as usual when I see another release that has different release dates for the vinyl, and the digital. So fucking frustrating.

Hey mate, we do always try to minimise the delay between each format as much as possible - but I'm sure you can understand where we are coming from. We are heavily committed to vinyl, and our largest cost lies in its production. If both formats were to come out on the same day, this can sometimes be problematic.
However, digital buyers do get rewarded with two extra heavyweight tunes, so we feel that balances the timing difference out

Yeah I figured that's why. Still though, I don't think the delay will cause people who typically buy digital to buy the vinyl. I buy vinyl, but I always buy the digital first, weird thing. I buy the digital, listen to the release for weeks, and if I find that the release is completely amazing and flawless, I'll cop the vinyl. I'm the type that only buys vinyl for really special releases, got a feeling this will be one of them!
Also, fair point about the two digital bonus tracks, I'd say that's enough to make the wait worthwhile for me! Never considered that.

neither of us were bigging ourselves up for not buying digital. it was a simple statement. vinyl > digital.
that's the way it is. you clearly agree on some level as you only buy vinyl for "special" releases.

I don't even know what you're trying to say Cornbread.
I wasn't even saying digial is a better medium than vinyl (even though, for me personally, it is). Just saying I only buy vinyl (not to be even cool, I just prefer the product and prefer the medium for DJing) so I don't really care for digital.
You shouldn't of whined in the first place, you get 2 extra tracks. Pipe down.

I'm glad you're backing Cluekid again cos he was in the forefront of 2-step to dubstep
& without any fuss or hype, keeps evolving.
Are you releasing Shreddex on vinyl too?
