The lower the quality, the lower the high end of the tracks. At 320, there is no NOTICABLE difference, but the difference which you cannot notice, DOES affect what you are able to hear.
You do know how sound waves work right? It's like wind blowing, and you can't SEE it, but you can feel it... any producer will tell you that the frequency at which you record certain parts at makes the difference in good percussion and bad percussion... snap on the snares and hi's of the hihats.
Now what does this have to do with sounds you CAN here?
Simple.. if the northern cold front comes blowing down across America, and collides with a southern warm front, there is a storm... same concept, only it's sound waves and not wind.
Don't worry though, I still buy MP3's all the time... I'm just saying, they are scientifically inferior... and this has been proven.

You think the likes of DMZ go through the whole production/mastering/cutting process, getting their shit to sound as good as it does just to be ruined by the signal-crippling process of converting to MP3? For more than just the reason that you can touch vinyl, the quality is better, and it will still have value after 15 years, whereas that MP3 will just be something that anyone with a good connection will be pirating.
