BEST SOUNDCARD TO USE WITH INTEL MACBOOK?

does anyone have any suggestions on which soundcard works well with logic pro 7.2 and an intel mac?
any price!?!?! apogee....metric....etc...???

metric halo 2882+DSP is WICKED, esp. w/ the new console connect features. i'm over the moon.
also had this thing for 3 years and it's never been anything but stellar. total workhorse.

If you're looking for a high quality firewire interface at a reasonable price, the Presonus Firebox is really amazing:

Its also quite small, which might be useful.. I'm assuming that portability is a factor because you're using a laptop. My second choice was the Focusrite Saffire LE, which is huge compared to the Firebox, but also well regarded:

If you have deep pockets, and portability isn't an issue, get a Motu Ultralite, apparently these are the best on the market:

Anyone got any suggestions for a Mac Pro (intel desktop)?
Just dropped a wad of cash on it so have v little left over for this so within a reasonable price range please!

I'd say RME Fireface 400 or Konnekt 24D... got meself a 24D, quite happy with it, although TC are not very good at timely firmware updates and some things are kinda hard to get used to... The RME is well small and nice though (especially all the routing one can do) just a tad bit too expensive...

If you are able to go beyond the "prosumer" type stuff - and want quality, but dont wanna spend a stooopid amount - the choice is pretty simple -
RME FF 400.
Best converters bar apogee (and almost as good)
sturdy, stable and just as important - rock solid drivers.
Be aware though - the firewire ports on these mac laptops are under powered - so whilst the unit can run on bus power - it can't startup from bus power (meaning you will need to plug the thing in, at least to start it up) - although this must be the same for most similar products.

Someone mentioned the Motu UltraLite if portability "wasn't" an issue. I recently purchased an UltraLite purely for the portability factor: it's rugged, firewire bus-powered (no need for an extra power adapter), and compact/light weight.
If you want a portable solution with your MacBook check it out. I suppose it's a little more expensive than some of the other options but you have to remember it has analog 8in/12out at 24-bit/96khz. Awesome quality.
I wouldn't purchase this however if I didn't need all that IO. Just something else to consider.
Finally, just to correct Android9, you don't need to plug the power adapter into the UltraLite *ever* (at least on a MacBook)...only if you plug it into a PC with a 4-pin firewire port, or want to run it in stand-alone mode do you need the power adapter. Bus-powered means bus-powered.

yeah, i was running a focusrite saffire on firewire bus alone, excellent card but was overkill for my needs so had to sell it to pay some bills.
