				Contacting Labels for releases?

				Sup,
I've been producing ALOT, my tracks are actually quite okay if I hear people's reaction, I spin my own tracks alot of time in my mixes and people tend to love 'em so that's not it.
I have never been sending my tunes over to a label you know that it can be sold and promoted further, I think If I want to continue and move to the next step this is what I should do.
So how do I start? I got a tune, it is mastered okay, not studio but nothing clips etc.
Where do I find labels, what are good ones and what are not so good ones. What should I expect and what should I be warned for?
Eh, so I have figured out you need a album art for that single.
Could someone explain me some basics?
Thanks
Njamimars

I bet this has popped up a lot on this forum, but are there any tips on how to get signed/noticed by a record label? Are there any main techniques? Also, where can I send my demos? I can never find out where to send them. Thanks in advance!

Send your tracks to DJ's and labels who you think will dig your sound

I'm huge on the origins of dubstep, I'm into stuff like DMZ. What other (realistic) labels are like DMZ?

I think you have to be distinctive to get signed.

Chestplate, Black Box/Box Clever.
Distance (chestplate) will be your best bet as (i think?) he has a part on his radio show playing music from new/unsigned producers.

talk to other producers build contacts by just being a normal person and exist within a network of people
by all means send tracks to producers with labels too and people with radio shows but ultimately make the music you think is amazing and forge your own path
there are producers that are incredible that have never really got anywhere as well so don't be disheartened

Wouldn't start off by sending to Black Box, Chestplate etc

I don't send demos yet but I've got like 20 small labels on Facebook, some online networking never hurts.

I wouldn't send any old shit off.. but if you think its good enough I really don't see the problem starting off sending to the big guys. Whats the worst that can happen? They ignore you or call it shit? Aslong as you target the right people and dont aimlessly spam them I can't see it hurting.
But yeah obviously don't send it to JUST the big labels, target some smaller labels if you want releases. But having someone like Distance play it on his new producers part of his Rinse show will get your name out there and it'll just make you look more signable, smaller labels are more likely to sign you if your tunes are getting support. Even if its just local support from local DJs you know. All helps!

Anybody can get "signed," making money after that is the hard part. If you want to do both, you must have all of the below:
1. Great talent
2. Great work ethic (work harder than 90% of your peers)
3. Some sociability
4. Some good luck!
You have to have all of the above; you can't compensate for the lack of one with the abundance of another. Those are the common denominators among "successful" acts I've noticed across the years.
