book I'm reading...

is talking about historical religious philsophy...

and they have the trinity worked out as this....

the son - selflessness - a life of works - a persons mind is spent thinking of ways to improve lives....
the holy spirit - when a person receives the supernatural - dissolution into a collective consciousness...

and it says that both states are incomplete and misguided without knowing the father..

but - the father - in my understanding of the text - can be equatted to suicide
it's a sort of oblivious state - like an escape - a sort of freedom from all things...

which confuses me because it's sort of the opposite of the other two..
Is this just old fashioned patriarchial manipulation?

No.

I am saying that I probably will forgive you but that doesn't mean that I want to be in the same room as you.

I see it as maybe having internalized that we are one,
with different minds to enable discourse & appreciation,
to the extent that I can immediately see your point of view
whether rational, grubby, altruistic or hedonistic.

but decision-making becomes problematic
as I lose the ability to prioritize criteria for judgements
about what is best for my own being
& so I drift in the white noise of our every motivation.

Actions determined by impulse and ease.
Discrimination of good & bad thru momentary reaction
and the filtering remnants of life's conditioning.

can you not be empathetic to them while still defending yourself?

"I'm sorry it has come to this, maybe we can talk once this is sorted..."

I don't want your blessing - I want you to change.

Leebeus Woods said - destruction of infrastructure is a non-symbolic way to irrefutably impliment a change.

As does forming opinions that you can't find fault with, which when the reasons for that are pursued ultimately leads to your sense of self coming under attack. Maybe that's just me

When words fail, then it is time to chose another way.
Ultimately, you must forget about technique. The further you progress, the fewer teachings there are. The Great Path is really No Path.
