Always bothers me when the drum track in a song doesn't match up with what's being played in the video...

i dont get what your looking for? theres no secret formula for any song to have a tight mix. it all depends on the song. not to mention id be willing to bet a lot of money that song was professionally mixed and mastered by a separate engineer...

I liked that song for the first 30 seconds and then it became unlistenable.

Multi-band compression is often used to get the low-end tighter. It's usually done in the mastering phase.

Sounds like great EQ and maybe even sidechaining.

Out of every story that ever was, that was definitely the coolest.

That tune was absolutely WANK. You Americans should be ashamed of yourselves. Please stop listening to this stuff. Go to the house section of this forum and discover decent music. Kthx.

EQ, Compression and Gain Structure. Those are the 3 most important parts for punchy, clean and tight mixes. ESPECIALLY EQ and Gain Structure. Learn eqing inside out and gain structure your tracks properly and it will make a MASSIVE difference.
Obviously you need to get the most out of your individual sounds which will take time and tweaking, but without being able to make them work together (eqing and subtle compression for Cohesion) it will all sound like a mess and lose/flabby. Never ever rely on mastering to make your track sound huge and tight, (polish turd etc etc)

I think it's give and take. Yes you can make the low end this tight but you lose the weight of the sound. This isn't as heavy as other songs. To integrate Korn s sound I figured you'd have to tone it down on the bottom end.

Nothing special about the production on that track IMO. The only characteristic of the mix is LOUDNESS. There's not that much low end, I just got waaaay more bass from a track in my DAW at a lower relative volume.
Sounds to me like the real prominence in the bass of that Skrillex/Korn tune is more in the high low-end around 200-300Hz (and obviously the horribly overbearing mid-range wobble 'bass') so if you're not listening on full range speakers (e.g iPod/laptop/average hi-fi, etc) the 'low-end' of this particular tune might seem to be heavier than it is on tracks which have the emphasis on proper sub bass.
Also, the master is massively compressed and brick-wall limited. This makes it seem VERY LOUD AND IN YOUR FACE, EVEN MORE-SO THAN WHAT THEY DO AT TRANSITION!!!!!!!!11!
My advice would be to play around with bassline&kickdrum sidechain compression, big distorted wobbly midrange basslines and lots of 200-400Hz.
Hope that helps you on your quest.

I didn't say how much bass it has, I said how tight the bass is.
But yeah thanks anyway
