I know that there was a tread made when it was announced but has anyone heard anything new about what developers are on board, or a release date? I heard somewhere that sugar bytes was making something but again that was back when 6.5 was announced.

Haven't heard anything about new devs, but I haven't been following it either. It's still scheduled to be released in Q2 so I'm guessing it will come out at the end of the next month. I've read on rekkerd about a new extension by Props themselfs named Pulsar, which is a dual LFO, and will come out at the same time as 6.5. It should be free for the first 3 months, normal price is $49/39 EUR. See here for the original post: http://rekkerd.org/propellerhead-intros ... extension/

So props have switch their business model from creating a walled closed environment where you are almost required to buy sound sets for reason to an equally closed environment where you have to buy sound processors for reason? Clever/shifty fucks, yes?

I mean, if the glass looks half empty to you, I guess so.
I'm sure there will be free sound processors available every now and again on their website, too.
The initial upgrade to 6.5 gives access to a free rack extension right off the bat (Pulsar LGM-1), within the first 3 months of 6.5's release.
Korg, Sugar Bytes, Rob Papen, and a few others intend on releasing rack extensions.
Wish i had the money for this. I'll just have to use my pirated reason 5 till I get a job

I've seen it, first 6 mins is the standard props promo bullshit. Athough you got to see the devs talk, they seem pretty exited, maybe props threw some $ there way to be extra exicted? Don't know and actually don't care. Was mainly interested in the comming extensions. I'm pretty exited to be honest, if you can see through the marketing bs then it's really a cool concept imo. Mainly intrested for new stuff not just ports. I'm guessing these will come with time, ports are apparantly pretty easy so those will be done first.

I can't see devs specifically designing for reason and not vst, unless reason's copy protection holds, and their share of the market exceeds the proportion of legitimate vst purchasers. Which I don't know about.
If DMG and FabFilter ported, well that would be huge.

Yeah I didn't necessarily mean Reason exclusive stuff, but new stuff in general. But why not? Perhaps new developers will emerge who will purely focus on this format, just like some devs only do VST and others AU etc. Who knows, only time will tell.

After Reason 6 I pretty much stopped using other DAWs. Therefore I am super excited about Rack Extensions and after this video to see people like Ozone getting involved with a maximizer, I am pretty excited for the future of Reason. How can more devices be a bad thing?

Dissipation of focus, slower workflow, increased complexity. There are downsides.

Project, yeah I feel you. Think props is going to be heckuv picky with who gets into the reason rack, so small time/start up devs may not get a shot at it. I'm sure (hope for the reason heads at least) that there will be exceptions though. I do know that there are loyal fans who also could function as devs. And I'm totally down with Props shitting on the vst "standard" it is a mess (like everything else Steinberg touches hehe).

I find the routing options/cv manipulation to be one of the selling points for me. Sure it's complex at first, I don't think I flipped the rack around for maybe 2-3 years out of intimidation. But it's so rewarding once you get the hang of it. That workflow is what I go to Reason for. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah I agree with the focus and workflow, don't get me wrong I love Reason and I still use it, but rewired to S1. Drag and drop everything is the way to go. Would love to see it implemented into Reason, keep dreaming
You got a point there, seeing as stability is their selling point. Shit is sandboxed though, so maybe open it for small timers at a later stage. On the other hand it's not a bad thing that not anyone can make extensions, no need to offer too many plugs like in the vst world where there are hundreds of EQ plugs for instance and like half of them are crap. Props will no doubt be tight quality control, which is good imo.

*evacuates nut sack everywhere*
WOOOOOOO
rack city, rack extension city bitch
We should use this thread as a place to user review rack extensions to offer recommendations on what's really worth the price tag.
Good thing Props included a 'try before you buy' function or I would probably stay away from the RE store... All the plug-ins I'm excited about are really wallet-hurting.

I fucking hate their Ignition Key and the Authorizer. Shits not working for me, I know I had trouble with it when upgrading to 6, but got it to work. But now nothing works and the last thing I want to do is contact customer support....

I think in the instructions for the beta it says the ignition key won't work until the official release, I was having the same problem.
