my new computer comes this weekend and i want to transfer all my samples and music, from my laptop to my new computer, how would i do this?????

is there a easyer way than puttin it all on to seprate cd's then copyin it from the cd's to my new cmputer?????(as tht will take for ever)

should be able to fit a shitload of mp3's/wavs on a data CD instead of burning audio.... other than that a little usb stick i guess would be quicker

You may be able to connect them via local area network or if you can't just get huge external hard drive

yer man deff... im not too clued up on these networking tings...


there may be a cable that can connect two computers directly thru the network cards but i dunno...

usually it would be through a hub/switch, or maybe even if there are more than one port in your adsl modem they would connect through that??? im sure theres good info out in google if you have a search..

if you get a crossover cable you can plug them directly into each other:

(this is assuming they've both got network cards btw)

Surely there is some modern equivalent that doesn't require a network card?

I think one'd be hard pressed to find computers without network interfaces these days, even if the computer is 4-5 years old.

If you don't, but have USB, you can use those ports and a cable to transfer files as well.

Best bet is a standard ethernet crossover cable and regular filesharing (or FTPif you're up for it, it'd be faster and probably safer).

if you do it with cd you have also made an archive.... wich is good!!!!

and usb HD are cheep now.... wich are even better of archive than cd/dvd....

I agree, get a big external hard drive and back up everything on regular basis

should anything ever go wrong then you are covered

If you got a DVD burner, a few data disks would do you, 4gig a pop. And again, you have a backup on removable media.

Also, if you have MP3 player, check if that has a flash drive function. I discovered that I can use mine as an 8 gig flash drive if you empty it out! this was damn useful when moving shit off my old PC.

Although USB 1 ports on the old machine were no joke... sloow man:roll:

Back in those days, 112kbps was all we could afford, and was all our coal-fired babbage-bombe logic engine could cope with. These moderns with their Universal Cereal Busses and plugge and playe softwear have no idea. Whats next, heavier than air flying machines?

Take the hard drive out of the old computer and put it into the new computer. Then transfer the files. It will go very fast assuming you connected the drive correctly. This is the best way to do it in my opinion. When you are done, you can put the hard drive back into the old computer if you want.

i agree m8 would save a lot of usless cds
