spent a few hours putting this tune together the other day. I play a few instruments so layered them on top of an idea I had for a hypnotic-weird-time beat.

had fun making it,

any thoughts/feedback appreciated

Your song kind of reminded me of an artist named Starkey. Your guys style is kind of similar in a way...I guess cuz of the chill futuristic vibe sounds.

Pretty good for the type of music you aimed for.

Starkey is sick, that is interesting to hear. Not really sure who i'm influenced by. But it's a lot of different people and musics.

I guess it's not really Dubstep, but it's certainly a major influence in the tune. definitely more influenced by the deeper side of Dubstep. The tune is at 140, but the time sig is 9/4 (kind of three bars of 3/4) - think the time sig creates some nice space in the beat.

thanks for the feedback gents

It's 4/4 + 5/4 rather than 3 3/4s, surely? It's real nice though, I like the brassy stuff.

Well time sig wise I tried to make it both - some percussive things are treated as 3 x 3/4, overall the bass drum snare pattern is 9/4 (or 4/4 + 5/4) I think.

the intention was to make something that was hypnotic and a bit disorientating.

Glad people digging it :) - brass is combo of Tnr Sax, Clarinet & Soprano sax, 3 instruments with quite a rich sound

One thing I was wondering is could this track do with a vocal? Or is happy swirling around as an instrumental track?

alright guys a quick lesson on fractions.

you could say, 1/4 = 2/8 = 4/16 = 8/32, but you'd be quite a nitpicky bundle of sticks.. instead we simplify to 1/4, bottom line.

5/4 + 4/4 = 9/4

3/4 + 3/4 + 3/4 = 9/4

^ c wut i'm getting at?

9/4; after 9 beats the bar restarts. breaking down this number anymore is like playing asteroids, you're just gonna keep ending up with smaller pieces and never get anywhere.

love the track. regardless of time signatures, it's a great relaxing track, reminds me of skream's summer dreams, kinda jazzy.

get what you're saying ;)

very aware that they both add up to 9, its just that how you choose to divide it up really effects the feel of the beat. Might seem nitpicky but does actually make a difference.
