you guys ever watch this dude on youtube? some really cool shit he pulls with his guests.. he always pulls records out and shares them with whomever he is interviewing, and asks some pretty interesting questions and gets some quality conversation. just watched the one for kendrick lamar (dude is really making me love hiphop again, and ab-soul too). there's vids for lots of hiphop artists, some good shit.

I like him. Found him kind of annoying at first but it's so rare to have an interviewer who actually has the knowledge. We mostly get people like Fearne Cotton

He has crazy knowledge on stuff. One of the best at music interviews I've ever seen. There's shit where he's like talking about records for 30 minutes to one of the roots.

yea his shtick is nerdy but it works because he is interviewing some well hard rappers, so you have this white nerd interviewing nas or young jeezy, and it ends up being quality because of that quirkiness.

Its shameful to compare him to 99% of interviewers out there as his knowledge is crazy. Maybe I'm a bit naive, but shouldn't most interviewers be aiming for his level of knowledge on a subject - instead of following the same boring old questions/formula? Because after all, it is their job...
My favourite one is the Pharell one were he's genuinely amazed and cares. Has anyone seen the Nas one though which turns sour? Nardwuar brings up Ether and Nas's curiosity turns to anger, it's kind of awkward!

^^ Nardwuar's original background is from punk rock & garage punk.. so coming up through all that as he did in the late 80's all through the 90's, back in the day, it was all about diy zines, backpage mail order, mixtape cassettes, home taped or collected vhs compilations (that he originally put out too all thru the 90's). imo, his interviewer mind still operates like a zine writer, or avid zine reader (which i'm sure he still is at times), jammed packed with all the nerdy little factoids, stories & funny intricacies that were all word of mouth, or just urban legend back then ha. he's never changed his style, or character, maybe just more crazy given the availability of outlets to research on the internet now of course. of course, dude lives & breathes music, and it shows. he's always repped like that. he deserves any and all success he's had with pointing microphones in peoples' faces. heh.
