I kind of fell in love with a new area of music this past weekend:

Maybe I'm just late to the party ...or no one is at the party. Regardless, I like this and I wanted to tell you guys.

Raster-Noton is a label you might wanna check out as a starting point for this sound. Get yourself a subscription to The Wire as well.

Much appreciated!
Seen The Wire on a rack before, but I didn't know they fucked with this. Kuedo really served as my intro into this.
I've listed to stuff that rode real close to this, but this is a little more pure to me.

"sound art" would be what i use, especially for someone like Ikeda whose art has both audio and visual components. noise, experimental, electronic, avant garde or combinations of those followed by the word "music" should turn up interesting sounds though.

They call it media art or glitch art (and no doubt 10 other cringey names from magazines like pitchfork). I'm not sure how new it is though, a lot of it sounds or looks just like so called 'IDM' from the early 90s like Autechre and AFX using the same techniques. If you go to some avant garde film fests or shows in your city, you'll see a lot of it. I saw harmony korine doing some in a nyc gallery using deleted scenes from gummo, and he was dancing around in tribal costumes with glitched up drums and black metal.
