OM UNIT | http://omunit.com/
An electronic music producer and DJ from London. One of many, but with a very distinctive sound, Om Unit has already captured the minds of beat fanatics with his work to date. Style-wise you could say ‘post-genre’ or just ‘electronic beats’. Genres are like borders, rapidly becoming obselete when we see the world today as having an ever-increasing merging of styles and influences. Put simply, it’s electronic music.

Jim Coles previously worked under the name 2tall, as a competitive DJ (DMC/ITF etc.), a live performer in the UK and Europe, working with turntable and samplers, and producer of several albums, including 2007’s ‘Beautiful Mindz’, a project put together with Dudley Perkins and Georgia Anne Muldrow. Other albums include ‘Shifting Tides’ (2004) and ‘The Softer Diagram’ (2008). Beyond that, his work with Dented Records led to productions and collaborations with UK rap acts, such as Foreign Beggars, Jehst, Kashmere and Kyza, as well as production and turntablist work on the ‘United Colours of Beggatron’ album.

LORN | http://delphianinc.com/, http://ninjatune.com/
Lorn returns with a new full-length album, his debut on Ninja Tune, and it’s a huge stride forward since Nothing Else (released on Brainfeeder, June 2010). Listening back to his first album, Lorn says it now seems “cold and strict.” Ask The Dust, on the other hand, is “haunted, oily, smeared,” and with this description he captures something of the intensely felt, visceral aliveness of the music.

If Lorn began his musical career as a poet of alienation, then Ask The Dust (named after the 1939 proto-Beat classic novel of the same name by John Fante) sees his music develop a more human energy. In particular, the use of his own singing voice (a process which began on the last track of Nothing Else, “What’s The Use”), which has added a new dimension to his often crunching and brutal but never less than beautiful electronic music.

Since the release of Nothing Else, Lorn has toured the world alongside the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Amon Tobin, and GonjaSufi to name a few. He became a devout owner of a B5 A4, and much like his dedication to music and art, wasted no time tearing it apart in order to learn how to put it all back together again. Ask The Dust suggests he’s learnt to do much the same with his emotions.

SLEETWALKER | http://www.illpillrecords.com/, http://facebook.com/starsandgalaxies
Sleetwalker’s effect on the electronic music scene is slowly mounting. With his efforts extending beyond his own work into collaborations and releases with other artists on Ill Pill Records—the namesake he co-founded based out of Glenside, PA—his presence has been acknowledged by notables such as Thom Yorke, and Mary Anne Hobbs. His recent release with Delphian Inc. cohort adoptahighway has garnered much attention. Terrorvision is–to speak of Sleetwalker’s tracks and contributions–a layered and highly-textured digital jaunt through some corrupted old TV set, some warped acidic motherboard. His shows typically entail a mixture of live performance and DJ sets, turning his already substantial collection of tracks into an emotive atmosphere of sound that’s brought him extremely close with a growing fan base.

THE CEMETERY IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY | http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Cemet ... 3399304197
The Cemetery Improvement Society (Madison, WI) was created in the winter of 2006 as a solo experimental/electronic/instrumental music project. It's original purpose was to express feelings of loss and musical ideas without boundaries, using only a sampler and a seven string guitar. In this early stage, an eight song demo titled "You Are Lucky" was released to promote the many live shows that would follow. In the four years since it's birth, The Cemetery Improvement Society has continued to evolve musically and conceptually. The full length album "Lonely Dog Island" includes continued solo music, collaborations with various vocalists, and co-writing with guitarist Russell Paul. "Lonely Dog Island", released in April of 2009 (Analogy Records) was followed by a Midwest/East Coast tour and many Midwest shows to follow. In May of 2010, Lonely Dog Island won three Madison Area Music Awards for Best Electronic Album, Best Electronic Song, and Best Electronic Performer.
In July of 2009, Brad Hawes (The Projection People/Revolving Doors) joined TCIS as a full-time member, contributing with live drums/electronics. After finishing a 2009 summer tour, TCIS spent the winter writing and recording its new full-length album, J.A.N.E. "Just Another Neglected Existence" is a fictional audio documentary, following the life of a prostitute and telling her story. J.A.N.E. is now available at http://thecemeteryimprovementsociety.bandcamp.com/

THE DEMIX | http://facebook.com/thedemixlives
THE DEMIX is an experimental musician and DJ creating eerily cinematic apocalyptic songs, soundscapes and mixes. He is a genre defiant artist who can be heard playing anything from drum and bass, breaks and techno to brutal noise, weird rock and ambient soundscapes, often all in the same set. THE DEMIX is responsible for this MELT live music series which has featured artists such as Lorn, Dolor, adoptahighway, Eliot Lipp, Haywyre, All Tiny Creatures, Signaldrift, Man Mantis, Poor Boy Rich, CCDM, Stagediver, Zerobeat, Made of Oak, Echo Island & Pressboard.
