hey i got a question right quick .... maybe someone will have an answer i have been looking for ages.....where can i find vocal samples not the kind that sing but like funny ones.i have this idea of having random quotes in my music to like for instance "tell me about the fucking golf shoes" (hopefully everyone knows what thats from) i think if incorporated correctly that would be fucking sweet. (the way i hear it in my head anyways) i know the internet is a vast community of these types of things but i cant seem to find anything ( not just that quote but others) so if someone could give me a link to a sight or something with funny quotes that would be great ... i have a very sick sense of humor so dont be afraid to go there ill probably use it anyways thanks guys

i would record myself but i kno nothing about fucking with vocals seriously thats like a foreign language to me . And for real i completely forgot you could download youtube to mp3... duh ... i love the internet thanks for a memory refresh topmo3. ill have to look into how to use vocals seriously.

This is actually a fantastic strategy. For my productions I use a program called Free YouTube Downloader. After I rip the video, I convert it to a wave file with a program called WinFF, then I just edit the audio in my DAW. You can find practically anything on Youtube, but it could be a little immoral sometimes, so if you have any clashing sensibilities like that, don't try this method. Otherwise, it's great .

This is a little off topic, but alot of talk about the legality and morality of sampling in this thread, so heres a tip for artists...

Keep a little text file with:
Tune - Sample Sources - links to sources - files you actually downloaded to sample (mp3 rips, ect)...

When you get a tune signed they are gonna ask you to cite stuff like that, and to tell them when you used royalty-free-drum-packs and stuff, and then the label will decide if they feel it nessasary to pursue royalty agreements based on the info you provide.

this also provides you with a bit of legal security, as you'll have the justification of 'I warned the owner of the label that I had sampled copywritten material, and was to believe any royalty agreements could be managed by the label directly with the sources of the samples'.

As far as the morality - just dont ever sample someone elses musical content without giving them a knod... speech, film dialogue, foley effects, ect. are all free game in my eyes, but if you go grabbing an unmodified line of chord skanks from an aba-shanti record and dont big them up, shame on you.

Yeah best thing is record yourself or others. Then of course watch films and pick bits you like. It'll be way better than downloading a pack that 50k others also have. Browse archive.org for a few hours for example.

well known movie dialog is a bit cheese anyway IMO...that's been done to death and then hung, stabbed, poisoned and beaten. Pull something really bizarre from an obscure movie fewer people would know of. I've just heard too many songs that feel like the whole point of the song is "lolz...omg...I know that movie quote" then the song turns out to be jump up trash.

Just sayin' if you are going to do it, do it well ;p You might hook up your computer to be ready to record when ever you are watching a movie. Also, somewhere there is an archive of public domain film/sound
