What would be the best program for vocals? As of now I have Melodyne, audacity, and fl studio's vocoder which I still need to learn how to use. Any other programs I should get for my vocals?

Hi guys, I have three programs that can modulate, manipulate and tune my vocals. I haven't learnt how to use them, but I think I need more programs just to be safe. Any ideas what else I should get?

Basically looking to correct pitch which I will use Melodyne for. Also make the pitch higher and lower, merge vocals, and vocal slicing.

BTW am thinking of getting Melodyne myself - how much did you get yours for?

Just a heads up, Melodyne Studio is $699, expensive software and newbies make for a flammable combination on these boards so you should be careful with namedropping if you want to be taken seriously.

To answer your question, Melodyne, paid for or not, is a very powerful tool. FL Studio has two different vocoders, I prefer Vocodex, which does more or less everything you'd want from a vocoder. FL also has a built in pitch-correction (autotune, think it's called Newtone but could be wrong), but since you have Melodyne you probably wanna use that instead. Of course you wanna get some good EQ:s, reverbs and stuff. A De-esser is great for vocals to remove that harshness on the 'S'-sounds. If you've still got some dollars left after all your other purchases you might want to look into the Waves bundles. At $4725 the Mercury bundle gives you great bang for the buck, including both an EQ, a Reverb, a De-Esser and as an added bonus even a compressor and more. Order now!

For slicing vocals, you don't need a plugin for that. Slicex in FL works great, otherwise do it manually.

It was $300. It's seems to be proving it's worth so far!

Although you can get the bundles for a little less at online merchants. I'd recomend obviously trialling it first, since there is a free demo.
