I would recommend learning the shortcuts and how to navigate the program first, i recently switched to ableton and i found concentrating on the ''boring'' stuff first pays off.

actually considering this now. FL not being on mac is becoming a pain.
anyone made the switch before? i'm weary because i tried to switch from FL to Logic once, absolutely hated it and ended up going back on FL. have a feeling the same shit will happen again although Ableton looks a lot more user-friendly than Logic

i was a user of FL for 5 years, then moved one day to ableton and never looked back, its audio routing, audio editing, effects racks, and easy UI and workflow are amazing.
BUT (yes im gonna go there) tracks sounded more "full" in FL...

Ableton doesn't "destories" FL. Producers like XXYYXX and Pearson Sound come to mind as notable FL users. FL is a capable sequencer like any other. The only thing I would say that takes away from FL is it's native plugins are crap in comparison to say.. Logic for example, but you can just get some external VSTS so it's not a problem.
It still has the best step sequencer and piano roll of any DAW on the market.

LOL
But crunkedxup, it works fine with Bootcamp, I know a few people who run it that way. Then there is an official version in testing that is made to work natively on Mac without Windows emulation, you can find out more here:

FLs piano roll/midi editor is my favorite out of all of the DAWs I have tried. It just has a different flow of doing other things that I don't really like, thats the only reason I don't use it.

congrats on the switch!!! it takes a while to get used to it, but once you get the shortcuts and navigation down, it's all smooth sailing. the routing possibilities are endless and automation is really nice.

I am mainly an ableton user, but i also have fl studio and its a great program. 90 percent of the time i use ableton, but if i get bored or want a new approach ill use fl studio.

Porter Robinson, Madeon, Avicii (yeah I know), Tristam, Basshunter (Well, at least he's succesful) and lots more use FL Studio. So saying you're 'not gonna go anywere' with it is obviously bullshit. Deadmau5 uses it occasionally as well.
That said though, Ableton is also great. But it's not like Ableton is automatically gonna let you do a bunch of stuff you couldn't do in FL. Tbh you can really do more or less everything with anything. I might make the swap just to make it easier to gig live in Ableton though.
