Subject basically says it all, the cheaper the better. I wouldn't buy a synth for just these purposes but it might point me in the right direction. samples are always welcome too. Thanks guys.

I like Logic's Choirs but there are a lot of different and probably better plugins out there.

East West got a couple good ones i think .

There are some rather big sample libraries (about 20gb). Haven't tried them but I guess if you want to sound as real as possible it take up some space.

Wavestation is a cool old synth that you can prob grab cheap, anything modern with a bunch of samples would have a ton of choirs etc really...

Old digital stuffs going for peanuts, try a kurzweil k2000 or k2500...

Kontakt has a cool Mellotron sample in the stock pack. There are a lot of good options. Do you just want a general one?

Pretty much any synth with sample playback capability would be able to do a choir. Why on earth would you want to buy hardware for a fucking choir? It's got to be one of the easiest sounds to get, i have more choir samples than i'll ever need!

roland jv series has lots of good oohs and aaahs

Yeah, JV-1080 or 2080. They have some of those sounds as they are Romplers. But a very capable synth, lots of great pads.

They were standard in film composers studios for years.

My choir samples are multi gb but there's dozens of packs out there for things like kontakt. Spectrasonics do one called voices of london choir, has male, female, ahs, mms ohs etc.

I certainly wouldn't buy hardware just for playing choir samples.

just buy a wavestation fool!
last one to sell onebay went for £75, full keyboard (I.E. FREE MIDI controller) and extra rom cards.

looking at some myself now, didnt realise they were that cheap.
