Do People actually DJ with virtualdj in clubs? I know it's capable but I always thought of it as one of those programs that is for "noobs".

Could swear I saw DJ Spinn using it before (but he also uses vinyl and CDs), not 100% sure but it looked like it to me.
I don't see a problem with it really, there's only so much virtual software can do when it comes to DJing, I think they are fairly equal and the rest is just a brand name/marketing.

I've seen it done in quite a few places tbh. It works and it makes mixing easy, obviously people will use it.

I prefer its warping to abletons. And it's beat repeat is easier to deal with for me.

It has the same rep as FL has, it used to suck but now it's good and people still think it sucks. I like it.

i beg to differ when it comes to them being equal. if you use them enough you realize there is a large gap between virtual dj and then serato and traktor

Hahaha that reminds me of prom, the DJ only used Virtual DJ and he absolutely sucked. He would kill the beat of the song by randomly putting an effect and then he would spin the virtual vinyl and create a loud screeching noise.

lol that's nothing, I've witnessed people trying to legitimately DJ with Winamp and the crossfade plugin.

Like what? I'm not too experienced with DJ software but I have used Traktor and Serato, the biggest difference I noticed was traktor seemed to be more 'performance' oriented, as in letting me load up 6 different tracks and mash/loop them all together at once whereas serato was more straight DJing, though it probably can do that too. I didn't notice much of a difference with timecoded vinyl though.

vdj uses a FUCKLOAD of cpu compared to serato/traktor... not suitable at all for a club.

It's the default program included in a couple of dj midi decks so I would assume so...

It's good to use at home to plan sets or to mess around on, I can imagine it being poo in a club, using a mouse to cut the bass out etc is difficult

When i was in some shit club in newcastle the dj was definitely using it- every song he stuck the "put your hands up in the air" sample over the top of it. Every song.

Why wouldn't you assign that to something on your controller?

^It's all about the saxophone loop!

I've seen youtube videos of people using it who weren't terrible. I mean they were playing trance or what have you. And I'm not too savvy about deejaying, but I thought it was astonishing you could do 6 decks at a time.
I've thought about using it to resample synth lines.

The 6 decks thing is both really cool but hilarious.

SERIOUSLY

-who cares????-

The only question is - can YOU DJ with VirtualDJ?

If not, fuck off - if yes, then keep rocking.

Why is there any more discussion than this?
