How do I get around destroying my samples? Is there a setting in preferences to make a copy before edits are made?

any editing carried out in the Arrange window is non-destructive. Destructive editing is done in the sample editor window (including the Functions here such as Reverse etc) but you still have 3 levels of undo on destructive edits and processes.

I usually use the shortcut: Option + Command + F = Convert To New Audio files (or right/control click on the region > Convert Menu > Convert to New Audio Files prior to doing destructive stuff in the Sample Editor, as far as I know there's no auto-copy option in the prefs.
