Want to dabble into making trap.

:t: I have decided that I want to get into producing trap/ hip hop kind of beats, but the thing is I am very new to production in general. If anyone could recommend sample packs or just advice in general that would be great. As of now I am using Fl studio, and I want to just have some fun and dick around with those cheesy samples.

So my questions are
Where can I find a good sample pack for making trap?(Like the voice samples)
What do you guys typically start off with when making a tune?
And also any advice for a new(and somewhat impatient  ) producer?

Thanks all

I'm guessing theres no special voice samples for trap, just cut it out of shit.

Should probably go in the production forum btw.

Is it sad that the main reason I want to start producing is because I want to become the dj wanka of trap? He's my hero

Imo if you want to start making trap now then make it without using anything from the lex luger smaple pack (gold baby 808 pack or similar will serve you much better), no wobbles and no bleeps, blips or bloops. That shit sucks ass. And if you want it to be really good, find a rapper and make a proper trap tune

lots of 808s, be sure to tune your 808 kicks

soundfonts are good, trap uses a lot of cheap midi/synth sounds played in menacing, inhuman ways

learn about drum fills and snare/hat rushes

flockaveli is basically the bible of modern trap music, it rules

Yes - in my opinion it is sad to want to produce because you want to sound like anything else out there.

If it is already out there - why does the world need it again? I fully admit I am a cranky, old asshole... but the only people that tend to interest me (in terms of wanting to listen or even buy their music) are people who have their own voice ... and get in the game because they have something to say.

That isn't to say it is bad to have influences... but if you are looking for samples so that you can sound like someone else, all I see is another clone ... and as if that isn't bad enough, a clone who has to cheat off of someone's homework to get their watered down sound.

Knew it was only a matter of time before this thread popped up, it's like trap is the new dubstep D:

I like the Fruity Kick (I think it's called) for FL Studio.

You can make some ridiculous super-long sub kicks with it. So gangstah

Except there is nothing new about Trap... it's been around for ages...

... but all the sudden, like Footwork/Juke and other genres... as soon as a couple of white "tastemakers" like it.. then HOLY SHIT A NEW GENRE.
