Another thing that is good to check is the "Advanced" tab under the Speakers Properties and check the quality setting. I thought everything I was rendering from FL sounded so bad until I configured those settings. After that the .wav I rendered sounded just like it did in FL. Check this thread out: http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=218965. OP totally gets smothered by comments about clipping and computer hardware when it was most likely this setting.

My Focusrite Scarlet 8i6 doesn't have a 24 bit option. Not a huge problem I imagine right? I'm only working at 441 too. I seem to have issues when I switch to 96hz. I'm not really recording anything. Does it matter?

@ill mindset: I would say if you are not recording then it should not matter. The quality settings only affect the speaker output.
@Gurnumsbug: I only found this out recently as well while I was experiencing rendering issues in FL so don't feel too late.

The changes once in the outside world are endless.. headphones, speakers, sound card opamps, audio file formats, DA convertor, speaker placement, settings in media players - auto volume levelling, spatial adjustment, EQ, SRC etc.
