Entrants
Submit all entries to me, Zerbaman, via the PM function.

The premise to this originates from the original Applied Minimalism production experiment created by the guys at www.microphunk.ru

For this, the first DSF edition, we will follow suit and use this single 808 bassdrum. All entrants must use this single hit as their starting point, for fairness above anything, we all start in the exact same place and we all go in our respective directions from there.

If you're skeptical, I strongly suggest listening to this mix, the capabilities are infinite!

The rules are:
1 - Nothing other than the 808 bassdrum, no synths, no other samples.
2 - Effects are allowed.
3 - You may re-sample the kick's waves in order to use in synths that accept 3rd party waveshapes (I use FL so for me that would be things like 3xOsc, Sytrus, Toxic Biohazard etc.)
4 - You may process the bassdrum in any way you please, distortion, reverb, delays, pitch shifting/bending, filtering... The list is endless
5 - You may not use the 808 sample as a vocode carrier for a non 808 modulator.
6 - Keep your submissions completely anonymous until the end of the competition, that means no public soundcloud sharing, or sharing with any members of this forum for that matter.
7 - Submit only 1 track. If you decide to collaborate, the one track submitted is the one track for all members of said collaborative group.

These rules are subject to change as time goes by and as/if relevant amendments become/are necessary.

At the end, there will be a vote, the winner of the competition will select the sample for the next one.

Again, the 808 Sample - If you're interested you may start now, I think we should have a general vote now on when the deadline should be.

The deadline for this is October 1 2012.
Let's push ourselves!

But seriously, no interest?
It doesn't even have to be an 808 Kick. We could have competitions where the winner posts the sample of their choice for the next one.

But I love a good challenge, so definitely keen!

This is pretty old, it's also been posted here before. The mix is great nonetheless. I always wanted to do this for the Sample Pack comp if i'd ever win, but that didn't happen the few times I entered

I'd would be up to this, depending on the deadline/amount of time we get.

How does October 1st sound?

If you guys PM me tunes and stuff when you're done I can set it up anonymously etc

Ehbrums, yeah I quoted 5910's thread.

And what do you think of my suggestion? Instead of a one off thing, keep it going, each winner posting one sample for the following ones?
If so, do we want a general pick your favourite or knockouts? I'm personally for pick your favourite, it's faster. But we should be democratic about this.

I'm making this official.

Use only 808 kick samples. They can be manipulated in any way. No synthesis not involving the sample.

You have until October 1 2012 to complete and upload the track. Voting will be open for a week.

Winner chooses the new sample.

Shouldn't the OP do this?

Also everyone should use the same sample, so OP needs to get on this and upload one.
Make a new thread or edit the OP with the details.

So if I put loads of reverb on it (for instance)
And then resample just the reverb tail
Can I use that?

In that case I am in.
All I've done recently is mash the fuck out of samples, this should be fun :)
