El-B or not 2be

Got a question for all you know-all fans of dubstep music. Considering that el-b is seen as one of the pathfinders of the sound why is it he doesn't produce any dubstep anymore? As far as I know he works with Carl Brown on the el-tuff project. And while I'm here - why do you think Jammin doesn't produce much breakstep anymore - seeing as he more or less invented it? Is it cos there's no money in this? :?:

I think Zinc took a break whilst doing his album and pushing other artists on Bingo...

There is a new Jammin track about at the moment.

Zed Bias has also been conspicuous by his absence.

I don't really understand it to be honest. There's no reason why in between whoring their asses writing hip hop or whatever they can't do a couple of dub tracks. It's not like these guys are short of studio time.

Agreed. It's pretty disappointing really. You would hope that their conviction in what they helped create would be a little stronger, regardless of the paycheck.

Well - I like dubstep and el-tuff - so am I the only one? But putting this aside - basically then el-b doesn't make stuff cos there's no money. And the same with Zed Bias and Jammin?

money might be a factor when putting out a record,, it dont mean they aint makin beatz.. el-b prob has a tonne of dubs thatll never hit the streets.

or maybe they just got bored with garage, or making tunes at the same speed all the time.

it is more astounding to me that early d'n'b producers are still making the same music. I mean, how many tracks can you make that sound, to all intents and purposes, exactly the same, before you brain turns to jelly.

OK - I thought he was doing some drum n bass as well. I seem to remember him doing stuff for hospital and Bingo.

yeah, I think he did a DnB 12" for Bingo and did a broken album for Hospital as Phuturistix. There was also a broken album - 'Make Your Peace' - for Laws Of Motion...

So do DJs play this broken stuff with dubstep? I've listened to some of the mixes and quite a bit of it sounds like breakbeat to my ears - it would be nice to hear some proper music again - a bit more musical

Zed Bias put his first dnb track out on Hospital. The thing on bingo was Mombasa (i think) by Phuturistix...

Broken beat's a bit slow to mix in really. Breaks is rubbish these days, totally off that stuff.
