Videogames are scientifically proven to improve hand eye co-ordination and the cognitive part of the brain in the young adult demographic.

I didn't mean literally paint him a picture, I meant figuratively.

Yeah, everything in moderation is the key here. If you're playing videogames all day every day and not anything else, expect folk to take a dim view of that. Go outside, go see friends down the park (or whatever), offer to do some chores that involve leaving the comfy chair in front of the games...I used to have my Mum say the same thing to me when I was playing videogames (admittedly I was 14 and it was a Super Nintendo with Zelda ) so I offered to take the dog for a walk or go down the shops to get the Sunday papers etc.

Balance it out and you'll lose the heat, trust.

Kill him and blame your act of violence on videogames. Most prison cells come equip with the latest consoles these days anyway.

As a parent I can tell you I frown on my kid playing games all day.
He gets pissed off though because while I'm bitching at him I generally have my own game on pause

I do prefer it when he takes breaks and goes outside.
We take breaks together and go play some cricket across the road.
As wub says though, try to do a chore or 2 to take the focus of your gaming.
They will respond better to you because of it.

ok and i don't play all day like I used to. i usually just go outside , bike or something then near dusk i head inside and game, somedays when i'm ill which is atm i will stay inside and just play, or when i'm too lazy to do anything else that uses up some physical energy

Just try to be active enough that your dad notices.
