this article would have made sense in 2008, but feels very dated right now. loose connections and anecdotes from the period when the army was vastly overstretched smashed together to make a news bite. even mentions at the end that the waivers for criminals have ended. mr. kennard is a little slow on the uptake.

Doesn't a lot of stuff get robbed from the army though...I've heard stories from mates that have served (Eastern Europe/States) that stuff is always 'disappearing'. Guns that are considered to be unserviceable and assigned for decomm/disposal and turning up under the counter of a local gun store the next week.The report found that two army privates in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg had attempted in 2007 to sell stolen property from the military – including ballistic vests, a combat helmet, and pain medications such as morphine – to an undercover FBI agent they believed was involved with the white supremacist movement (they were convicted and sentenced to six years in prison)

Friend of mine was high every day in Iraq. Told me it was real common, they would trade drugs. He's a medic lol.
He's stationed in Washington for now. Still high. Hard drugs too, heroin etc.

I did all sorts of shit in Biloxi/NOLA in the military. As long as you dont smoke bud or do coke you could pretty much blame Rx meds of some sort and play stupid

Yeah that's fucked how the hard dangerous drugs are out of your system over the weekend, but just smoking weed once can get you into trouble a month later. He was smoking JWH but he said they are cracking down hard. On the military TV network apparently there are anti-jwh ads being played all the time, posters up on the walls etc.

Heroin is pretty much everywhere in Afghanistan. Also, the us military (most likely the marines) is full of rapist. Pigs.
