I think it's best if we try and not link the word "trap" to dirty south too much. Cos the more and more irritating trap garbage I hear these days, the less it reminds me of the good old dirty south beats it's meant to sound like.

Will be the new electro house/brostep/clownstep within a few months, if it's not already.

But more importantly, who the fuck is Dillon Francis?!?

i dunno, if he and his marketing team can convince people to spend money to see him, i see him more as an entrepreneur/illusionist than a musician. i can't bring myself to hate him for that.

wasn't trap always just a euphemism/synonym for cocaine rap
i.e. jeezy, maybach music style which often featured big booty bass 808 and ratchety hi hats etc.
i feel like if it isn't about trapping, it's not trap

Trap, at least from my life in Dallas/Ft Worth, referred to when a block or two or three was sectioned off by a gang or group of dealers. They'd fuck up roads or block shit off and make it where theres only one way in and out of the neighborhood. So say a dude like me coming to get dope had safe passage from getting jacked and on the flip someone who may be coming in the area to rob them had only one way to get in/out of the blocks. It also made it easy to see when cops were around and usually the 'blocks' were at the start of the trap, and the dope houses at the end of the blocks.

Trap used in rap was just talking about that culture.... the lawlessness of those blocks. In the hood everyone knows where they are. Once they get popped they move the trap a few blocks away and start again. Its kind of a fuck the police, hamsterdam kind of vibe. In dallas the traps are just two ends of a block shut down... hookers everywhere, and dudes hanging out outside to serve you whatever you want. If you dont know where to get shit you roll around with your window down, someone will flag you down, and take you to get dope for a 'leg'

anywho it is a bit disengeuous for a kid to be blabbin about trap this and trap that when they're likely terrified to go to a trap

i completely understand your frustration now... this newschool trap is indeed blurring the definition of the genre/lifestyle as a whole. i completely misunderstood what you meant in the "future bass" thread
