Vintage-sounding vibrato synth question

Hey all,

I've always love this kind of sound; reminds me of old Sonic games on sega genesis... anyway, it's the sound right around 0:20. Seems dead simple; saw wave and some vibrato, but i can never get it just right. I'm thinking it's just the really tasteful application of the vibrato on longer notes, ensuring the depth of the vibrato is just right, etc... or am I missing something more? Thanks in advance!

Yeah In massive I would make a full synth sound. Just select a waveform (saw, square, escalation, math) have 2/3 oscillators one tuned an octave above the other. Chorus, dimension expander. Then automate the vibrato, that is the key, you need a solid sound in some sections. Sounds like during the vibrato sections there is some glide and the sound is pitched down.

All about ensuring you have a clean sound and automating the vibrato right.
