I've just set up an account with Indiestore to see how it goes..... I thought a good way to test it out would be to up a few unreleased tracks which won't see light of day on vinyl for one reason or another....
You can listen to the tracks in their entireity on my myspace page on the little player on the left hand side under the royal artist club blog thingy....
Right now there are 4 tracks available as 320 Kbps MP3, they are

Cha VIP (The vip mix of Cha - instrumental)

Funeral Vibes (The instrumental of Lethal Bizzle "Against All Oddz")

Shutupandance (Instrumental of JME's "Shutupandance")

Still Tippin Remix (Hip Hop meets Grime - instrumental remix of Mike Jones)
All tracks are 99p each. Hope they're of use to you!

or access them on the left hand side of my myspace page (watch the trailer for the porno I soundtracked whilst you're there

Just bought Still Tippin and its not 320kbps...
It's 201 (VBR). Incoded with Lame too, so it's pretty good quality, but it's not 320. What's the deal?

Possibly the website re-encodes them for download.
I'm going to double check the files - i'm pretty shitt with all the technical shit, as far as i know the files on there now were all encoded from wav files on my pc earlier today using the standard windows format conversion software.
anyone know if that would encode them into this new format?

It offers the files as MP3s, AACs, and WMAs, so if you only gave them one file they must be re-encoding them. If you gave them an MP3 (even a 320kbps), and they are re-encoding from that then the sound quality will actually be even worse.
Maybe you're supposed to give them the .wav and they do all the encoding? I quess you'd have to check yourself, as they only give us download info/help, not upload. Might be an option to ask them to do 320s, otherwise you're a bit stuck.

I think you can sell them as wavs..... i think they sell them in whatever format you up them in - I will see what I can do tonight though.

Of the people who've purchased so far - what is the quality actually like?? decent or is there obvious loss?
Like is it obvious like the difference between a 320 and a 128 ??

I've only listened through my laptop speakers, so I can't really judge.
Depending on how 'audiophile' you are, 201kbps VBR should sound fine on your home hifi, but it'll probably be a little lacking if you want to play them out.

"You last uploaded an audio file "Tippin Remix Master.mp3" for this track on 08/Aug/2007 18:08
This file's current processing status is: Ready
Total sales for this track:3
You can re-upload and edit this track if no sales have been made and processing has finished."
Unfortunately I can't edit the tracks. It seems like they are re-encoding them on the site - according to the files on my pc they are all 320 mp3s encoded directly from the master wavs.

Seen, well if people can email me with proof of purchase i will personally email them the 320 off my laptop - then u can let me know if it is being re-encoded or if the software on my pc is playing up and not encoding to 320!

your myspace cracks me up.
Sounds Like: A cat reciting the entire works of Shostakovich whilst eating a corn beef and tomato sandwich on a P&O ferry to Calais.
ROTFL.

what proof of purchase do you need? and the cha vip has noticeable quality loss on the high ends
