Fullness without backround noises (pads, strings, etc...)

Ok so in alot datsik songs that I practice my dj skills with I notice there usually is not any sort of background synths, unless I am just not hearing them. I think it is, because the initial mid range synth is just that "full". I assume this is achieved in resampleing, but I am to lazy for that/Don't know proper way to resample.
Example:

An easy idea\fix to try out would be this...
Let’s say your pad\string is playing on the note E3, also put MIDI notes on E2 and E4. Basically playing it normal, plus an octave higher and lower. A lazy way of giving it some more bass and some more highs.

In theory that sounds good but just tried it. It did not really work in my case.
*edit - I was doing it wrong I misread kinda works but eh.

I think it was more along the lines of, you said what you thought the solution to your problem was but rather than learn how to do it, you're posting asking us for advice in hopes someone gives you an easier method to achieve the same thing. I could be wrong though

To me it just sounds like the synths are pretty "fat" (compressed/limited, good stereoimaging and then also good EQ) and then the sub does a WHOLE lot to add fullness. Doesn't sound like there is any special trick TBH just some nice skill from him and whoever mastered it.

maybe you should look less at the sound and more at the melody and arrangement? part of the reason it seems full because there's a clear musical idea at the forefront

making tunes sound full is 100% about eqing and mixing.

Read the moneyshot thread. Read it again. Then read it once more. Then practice. POW.

i think its the bassline itself ,,,that has perfect harmonics ,,and after that just good equing and compression

Oh dear lord, I know so many 'proper' musicians who might actually have killed themselves in pure desperation if they heard this statement

its the choice of sounds. In a mix you have a certain amount of headroom and hes using it wisely. The sounds are big and fat sounding. Harmonic exciting and saturating help with this. Also the actual note being played helps too. If the base sounds are huge you dont need other thing to make the song feel bigger. Then when you master it helps fill out the whole thing nicely

harmonics
This. Add some harmonics after your filter with distortion/overdrive, bitcrushing, saturation, exciter, or use some anologue gear like bouncing to cassette or VHS. You could do this with busses/sends or on individual tracks.
Maybe even try a sub-harmonic generator? But I'm not experienced myself.
EDIT: Also run your tracks through fine tuner. A little detuning can fatten the sound.

Also chorus, stereo delay for width, phasers/flangers... lots of possibilities.
