Anyone have any nice commercial sounding 808 kicks you'd hear in typical mainstream rap songs (like basically anything by lil wayne) that they'd be willing to share? thanks

I'm amazed that you'd rather take the time to make me feel bad for asking for quality samples in an audio community, than actually help. thanks dude. I guess I'll go sift through 100,000 shitty clipped and fucked up audio samples to find what I'm looking for

Guys, guys...

To be fair, you both have a point.

Kit Fysto, you're probably starting out in this game - and that's cool, everyone starts somewhere. Given that there are in actual fact 8 zillion iterations of the 808 kick floating around, and given that you're looking for "high quality" - you're already on the right search path! Try googling for .wav files with high bitrates/depths, try googling for "samples taken from a real 808" or some variation thereof, etc. You will literally find exactly what you're looking for faster and with less flack from crusty oldtimers like 'Mo and me. This is a great little trick to use for finding samples, btw. If you do all that first and it doesn't pan out, feel free to ask away and somebody should be able to help you, hopefully. In the meantime... try this on for size.

Topmo, at least he asked for an 808 Kick and not a Skrillex bass sample. ;)

Thanks. Main reason I asked here is because it seemed like a much simpler route than looking through websites full of awful samples. I know, cause I've done it already. I share things on this board all the time. Sharing is caring. I need the kicks for a legitimate rap song. It's not for dubstep at all, and I didn't know where to look. I just don't get the attitude. I have worked with tons of producers and engineers that have legitimate careers that are more than happy to help people all the time when looking for samples or advice. It just blows my mind on this board sometimes how unhelpful people want to be.

Distort and saturate your 808s, then layer then over the clean versions for more 808 punch :h:

Make sure to EQ when you layer too, to avoid a clusterfuck of a kick

here's a tuned, long 808 kick that i use in most of my songs

it's tuned to C, so you can load it in your sampler and do the whole trappy thing with it

Kit Fysto look up the Lex Luger drum kit! It has some really sick sounding 808s. There's a lot of variations of the kit itself, but you should find what you're looking for.

Example at :29
Soundcloud

You could also try synthesising them yourself. ClearDrum is easy to use, but you can use a decent general-purpose synth.

mixdown could improve, but this is one nice song. someone should spit over this and get the basement dwelling metalheads raging.

What you need is the lex luger sound kit. Tones of good 808 samples. This and Kid Urban sound kit are great for 808s. Google both of them and I am sure you will get what you are looking for. Peace.

Goldbaby as Wub said or synthesize them yourself with something like TS808.
That's an awesome 808 Emulator.
