I'm trying to re-engineer this sound in Massive. I know my way around but I'm not even sure where to start for this one. Can anyone give me some tips or anything that might help?
EDIT: And while I'm here maybe I can get some more general help...what tricks can you use to get grittier sounds, like the bass in the sound I posted above? I don't know how to explain it other that it has grit to it, there's probably some higher frequencies in the bass to give it that quality. I've used the ring mod in the past to achieve this kind of feature but it doesn't always give me what I want. Any ideas on that too?

Distortion to get grit. Sine shaper is gold

Thanks. So what exactly does the sine shaper do to the waveform to give it that? Another technique I've used is bend but it's almost never dramatic enough. I'm still trying to recreate that synth and I just can't get it to sound good, let alone close to that. Is there a name for this kind of abrasive synth found in a lot of brostep?

some distortion(overdrive is great imho). I find using odd ratios / ratios inbetween octaves for modulators in FM synthesis, or also some modulators in massive's mod matrix can produce interesting results.
a bit of compression, some flanger. something like that

Couple of things here really, depending on what octave you're playing in. Most my basses are in octave 1 (where octave 0 is subbass - just for reference). One is to add subtle distortion and various points, that includes waveshaping, clipping, overdrive.etc. Then, what you want to do is boost at the right points. For me (again in octave 1) this is usually around 1-1.5khz and around 5khz, and boosting anywhere between 3 and 9 dbs (yup, a lot). You can always compress is some parts come out too loud, but these frequency ranges in general (after distortion) really seem to help pick out the interesting areas of the sound. Please be advised, that you need to play with it, don't take what I've said as a hard-and-fast rule, cos there's no such thing. You may also be using waveforms that have more high-end nuances or perhaps more mid-range girth, so again it's up to you.
Additionally, another thing I find myself doing a lot is taking a big chunk out of 400-600hz, the muddy area. That helps clean up the sound substantially, same as with removing the top 5khz-15khz, again depending on your sound.

Try different waveforms. Instead of distorting a saw wave, try a waveform that pretty much is a distorited saw wave, fuck it up, distort that, and then tweak the phase on M-osc. Sometimes distortion isn't the right place to start. If it sounds good before you distort, obviously it gets a lot better.

try a saw with the intensity set to "formant" on top of 1 or 2 other saws with the octave pitched down. Then a little distortion afterwards. that should do the trick
Noisia Screech Sound?

I have been listening this remix from Noisia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXkrrV17WW0 And since the first time i couldnt helo but notice this sound that comes at 1:59 (it hits in the same time as the snare) im not good with categorizing sound, but it sounds like a screech to me.Now i dont usualy remake sounds, but i have been obsessed with this one quite some time.I tried tweeking Massive i tried everything and i couldnt get anywhere near.I just know that it is a format mode in massive with a lowpass filter opening, but there is something else to it ,probably in the oscilators ,and there is distortion on it.Now - i know i should post my question in the "how to make this sound..." thread but no one answers that stuff ,i posted a few questions there and never got a reply. And i think this sound is quite strange and intresting so if you guys can help it would be really great. And sorry for my English.

im pretty sure noisia wouldn't have used massive to make any of those sounds.
anyway try this for the sound:
make a sub then put another sine wave thats 4 octaves above it, distort the two together (a lot) on 1 channel.. use more than 1 distortion plugin
next add a sine lfo on the output volume of your distortion.
also play around with EQ before the heavy distortion to shape the timbre.
this should honestly get you very close.
EDIT: there is also a slight bit of pitch bending on the note.

No matter how many times or how many different ways I try it, I can't seem to get anywhere close to the sound in the sample there. What am I missing?

Sounds really resonant to me. Play around with excessive resonance and/or a comb filter.
detuned saws with a bit of unisono and portamento/gliding and a lp filter with high cutoff value and a bit of resonance. then send it to a reverb aux.

Stupid question, how do I make this awesome wonky bass fuckery/ hi pitched circus squeal?
I know it's probably basic as fuck, but I need help recreating this with ableton/massive/camelphat
If you know how to please help me out!

search for the how to make this sound thread. generally, this forum is sick of seeing "how do i make this sound" threads so there is one thread dedicated to it.
but id start with a couple squares layered up, one low, one high. saturation. theres vibrato on that synth. but just start messing around with your synth and try and make your own version of it that way it sounds original.
Formant Sounds?

I'm trying to achieve a sound similar to the pad sound on this track starting at 0:12
I guess it's saw oscilators put through a LP-filter but it has "o" or "e" vowel quality which I can't achieve either with ableton's Analog or Massive formant filters. They sound too harsh and/or too thin. Starting from 1:50 you can also hear more movement on the filter.
