Hey!
I am planning on producing something "christmas themed" soon
so I am looking for a good VST to use those kind of church or tubular bells, that you hear often in christmas (pop) songs.
awful but good example: Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas .... ^^
or like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph_i3HEc0b4 (I am talking bout the bell, that starts at 7 seconds!!!)
does anyone have any good suggestions or tips?
thanks in advance, guys!

mhh... well, okay. I've finally found some very useful sounds to sample.
If anyone else was also interested in those sounds, go check out these:
http://www.freesound.org/search/?q=tubular+bells
but if one of you knows way better VSTIs or whatever, I'm still interested

...

zebralette has some lovely tubular-esque patches and it's programming capabilities more than cater for that type of sound. In the OSC editor you can add/remove harmonics e.t.c. and get some really bell/organ like sounds ala FM synthesis
Oh, and it's free

Personally I'd go with samples but FM8 is great for bells, it's the only sound I can ever make in that synth

yeah this, the Korg M1 VST as well (which i absolutely love)
also check out some general midi soundfonts, they always have a lot of bells

Chromaphone is a physical modelling synth that creates really nice sounding mallets/bells. Definitely worth a look. Combine with a quality reverb for best results.

I recently needed a church bell in a tune so what I did was find a sample of a church bell ringing. Then I threw it in Kontakt and mapped it to the keyboard/adjusted the pitch of it. I also added reverb with large decay. Worked quite well and now its like a playable tuned instrument!

I don't know if this has been resolved, but the Alchemy player has mallet sounds (at least the CM version). Xoxox has a mallet emulator as well. These are freeware.
