Getting a MacBookPro...PC to MAC switch...VST questions...

So I guess I'm getting a 15inch 8GBram Quadcore
Macbookpro...and I have a lot of questions concerning on VSTs switches etc.
First question...should I get the
2.3ghz or
2.6ghz macbookpro? there's like a
$500 difference... I don't know if it's worth it...also a bit more hard drive space and a little bit better video graphics but
idgaf since I'm not playing games on it.
From doing this epic switch of Operating systems and I'm totally clueless of
Macs....I'm getting f'ed on not being able to use a lot of my VSTs I have on the
PC...such as my favorites...
dBlueGlitch &
Grossbeat...
dBlueglitch I can substitute with Sugarbytes Effectrix...but
Grossbeat is my favorite VST...and I use it in all my songs(
spoiler/
secret)....I used it in
Ableton as it's own VST but I can't find one for the
MAC on google. Is there a way? Besides wiring
FL Studio to
Ableton?
Any good programs/games I should look out for? Any random cool tips for a
MAC user? I'm a
virgin to this
shit. About to lose it in a few days though.
Idk what I'm going to do with all my songs I've made on my
PC....fresh start? or ...is there a fast way to load projects from the PC to
MAC via USB and it'll work/load? or no?
Planning to take this laptop(being my first ever) everywhere and making it my
bitch. Make some beats at work!
This post is cracked out.

All your post made me think of is.... "ERMAHGERD - DOUBLE RAINBOW... WERT DUZ IT MEEEEEEENNNN"
I hate you.
Also, I have to reiterate what EH said - why are you changing? There is no benefit, really. They're both good systems to produce on.

Yeah seriously, his post basically says
"I've been using pcs forever, now I'm getting a MacBook (why are they so expensive?!?!) and now all my old project files are fucked and I can't use some plugins that are vital to my workflow. What do I do?"
Well, just get an Asus Rog that'll run circles around it for half the price and enjoy the configuration you're already accustomed to.
And seriously, 500 for .3ghz? You could buy two i7's for that price.

Agree with the why you switching comments. You say you dont give a fuck about games but ask what games you should look for. Well look for your favorite games but for Mac. Also if your DAW is cross platform (which Live is) your files will open just the same. Get Logic if you can afford it, that and the fact you don't drivers are about the only advantage to getting a Mac. Search youtube and google for tips n shit.
Good luck,

My friend just got a macbookpro and he just started producing, plus my other good friend uses a mac also.
I've always wanted a Mac...seems like it never slows down like PC Laptops after a year.
No viruses is a plus.
I just love the smooth interface, everything always seems fast.
Idk besides that, shouldn't be too bad right?
2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz) with 6MB L3 cache , <<<< it says it's an i7?

I made the thread 6am in the morning and was up for 24 hours, had work 8am in the same morning. I just do stupid random shit when I'm tired.

What do you mean the drivers are better? In what ways? I was also thinking about switching to Logic Pro or Cubase cuz I love the layout. Ableton seems too crammed for me..and I hate doing mixdowns/effect chains in FL Studio.
Probably sticking with Ableton though...cuz my friends

So?
I've always wanted a Mac...seems like it never slows down like PC Laptops after a year.
Load of rubbish. I own both PCs and Macs, and they both suffer over time. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of shit.
No viruses is a plus.
Come again? OSX is becoming a leading OS - you think virus creators aren't targeting it as a platform? You're delusional
I just love the smooth interface, everything always seems fast.
Somehow I think you're affected with "oooh it's shiny" syndrome.
Seriously - stick with what you know. Neither platform is better, really - and imho PCs give you greater life over time (about 4-5 years if you do micro-upgrades (such as cpu, mem.etc.)) - which you can't do with a mac. Macs are lovely laptops though, they're my favs in that respect, but seriously - all things you've mentioned are coming from a place of ignorance - it's hardly a good reason to buy anything based on that.

Well you pretty much stated the obvious. You guys wanted to know my PERSONAL opinions so I gave them to ya.
I've built my own computer I'm not fucking retarded. I've made my own servers with C++ , I'm pretty good with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sony Vegas. I use the computer everyday. Shit. Hop off my jock, get off your high horse lady.
Everyones laptop I've used either got a virus, overheated, went to shit in general cuz PC laptops suck. Those Toshibas, Dells, HPs, and Sonys all suck dick. I've used them ALL. I've just never OWNED one cuz I'm not rich, I'm broke as fuck. And if I'm paying this much money to get a damn laptop, might as well get a MAC.
And I'm not getting a damn Alienware Laptop..
I'd prefer a PC desktop over a MAC desktop anyday, but when it comes down to a laptop, the apple is more reliable in my opinion.
Of course there's viruses on MACs but it ranges in the hundreds or thousands and pretty much impossible to get one unless you're a retard. The PCs have millions.

If you're not retarded you'll have virus protection on your PC.

there really is no argument between the two, besides your wallet will be alot more hollow after the mac.
i say just buy a nice ASUS and all your project files will be fine. and if you use gross beat in all of your songs, isnt that gonna hurt a little bit?
macs are nice yeah, but not for the price tag. be different.

Havent had a virus on my PC for YEARS, can as well say that there are no virusses for PC.
But on topic, the change is really subtle, the only difference you will see is that there are MANY VSTs not compatible with Mac and such.

Fact is this - there are plenty of awesome PC laptops, and the ultrabook world for PCs is finally coming of age (YES!). Buy an overpriced mac if you want - but considering that you claim to be an expert in computers, then ask whether a small improvement in cpu core speed for $500 is worth it... you make your whole "experience" doubtful, to say the least.
Truthfully - I couldn't care less, but sometimes it's good to let people know when they're being ridiculous

People.. there is no doubt that a Macbook is a solid music production machine..
The price might be a little bit high, but don't forget that Logic Pro is only like £120 and absolutely packed with stuff.. you don't get that anywhere else.. and even if you don't use it as your main DAW, I well advise you to get it.
I don't really understand why you need your old project files.. to me old project files mean old songs, just start building new songs? no need to throw anything away or forget about.. just drop all of it on a external HD...
About the people that defend the virus argument.. I'm sorry but I've had laptops crash on me visiting google images with virus scanners.. next to that you always feel dodgy downloading an .exe.. Same goes for the speed over time problem, my mac is still running same speed, if I took the same treatment ive given my Mac over to my PC.. it would dead by now.
Also for laughs I'd like to see two people who have never used any PC before given a specifc task in a experiment, one using a Windows machine, one using a Mac machine and see who's more productive in the time given..
This coming from someone who bought a Macbook thinking it will be his main production machine, still prefer my windows desktop for making music and will always do my final mix there..
PS: I use zipeg.. you might need it :
http://www.zipeg.com/
Also you might want look at buying the older generation of macbook pro, as I heard that the inside parts are glued in the new one which is kind of shitty!

Lol at the people saying Mac's are no better for production
When was the last time you saw someone DJ'ing with Ableton on stage with a pc laptop?
When was the last time you saw a PC as the main machine in a studio?
So many benefits to having a mac. Being able to use Logic, being able to produce on the move better because the onboard soundcard is better, faster navigation between programs with the trackpad, better display, lack of viruses and loads of other little quirks, like the fact that when I bought my new interface I didn't even have to install drivers like I did on my old PC laptop, it was just plug and play on the MB.
They are nicer machines to work with.

Preference m8, not everyone even uses laptops during their gigs, not everyone uses macs in their studio's. Don't be so one sided. This discussions are always shit because almost everybody is going cold turkey with their opinion that they really hate people for saying otherwise.
But yeah I would love to have a appletop myself because it's fairly small and easy to bring with you. but at home I prefer myself a desktop with good ol' windows. And virusses is really something that can happen to anyone but if you're not a tool you would know what files to trust and what not.
