edit: which leads to me not bothering with compression at all unless absolutely necessary (vocal recordings maybe)

My new secret weapon is NI Battery 3...
Its not just a tool for drums...
Basically what i like doing is
1.loading my bass samples into Battery
2.totally fucking them up with pitch envelopes, reversing, etc
3.then bounce out
4.apply effects, automation etc
5.make lots of duplications
6.put all the variations on different cells in battery and get a bassline going
