Specific memories/moments connected to a track

I have literally a dozen of these. When there's one moment or like, a memory or a sequence of events that is forever connected to a particular track I was listening a lot to at that time, or even when they happened whilst listening to the track on Ipod or at a gig.

There are super cheesy ones, but the ones that really special or weird or almost surreal are the ones that still haunt me to this day when I listen to that track. I'll give you lot a recent example to illustrate.

A few weeks ago, I was travelling to the city (Louvain) for work on an early morning. And I had the old mp3 player along with me, which doesn't happen often any more. It was a grey and misty dreary morning, like autumn was in the air. But as we were entering the city (almost like Tarkovsky's Stalker I kid you not, image those scenery's). I was playing the track : Raime - This Foundry ( Regis Version - youtube link below). The track builds up with a lot of percussion, almost to the rhythm of the train going over the tracks. As we approach the outskirts of the city, the train always passes through a disused freight-train station where there are loads of rusty old trains, rotten buildings that are slowly being reclaimed by nature (though they plan on destroying it all in the future for a new campus). It really was like a scene from Stalker, with the grey dreary mist in the background, nature prevailing over the rotting constructions of man. The train slowed down, and literally at around 4.25 into the track, I notice a deer standing still, looking straight in my eyes. It was so surreal, I was alone in the wagon, I wanted to shout look, wow, we're a kilometre out of the city and there's a fucking deer right there. But the surroundings completely engulfed me. I'll never forget that image: the deer standing there still, in the middle of the rusty old forgotten constructions of men. It made me feel really small and reminded me of my (and in fact), our fleeting time here.
Every time I hear this track now, it brings out that special feeling. You must have some shit like that as well? I literally have hundreds of tracks like that.

yeah that's what I was hinting at by cheesy (of course that is not the case, it really sucks and can be a very big problem). I have one particular dubstep classic that is forever ruined like that. But you know, more transcendental-bigger than life, kind of moments are also to be found.

Any time I hear Aphex Twin - Alberto Balsalm for some reason I think of a time I heard it in the car in my iPod on the way my Mom & Dad were driving the car & we were stopped at a red light. I remember the exact intersection & it was cold & snowing out. Anytime I hear it I get that smell of the heat running in a car when it's cold outside.

It's strange

that's what I'm talking about, small (even insignificant) things that you'll never forget because of the track. I'm intrigued by it.

I have one pretty similar to you in that it was a foggy day and I was walking to school feeling pretty depressed when I turned a corner down a hill and this song came on
.

The sun came out, lighting up the mist and making everything look really beautiful and I was suddenly smiling and for a few seconds actually started skipping down the road, so now everytime I hear this song I'm back there skipping along with a bubble of joy right in the middle of my chest :)

Also I remember this one from when I was very young, me and my sister always used to sing along in the back of the car everytime my dad put it on the tape player

Listening to Instra:Mental - Waterfalls on the train home back from bestival with my arm around my girlfriend, just feeling exhausted and utterly content. Was a perfect festival and the perfect end to our relationship (I was starting university the next day)

Most of my teen years can be remembered via Aus Rotten tunes.

I've also bought Alec Empire - The Destroyer LP so many times as it's my soundtrack to life and why I got into making music. Also one of my old room mates back in the army (as hood as you can get, RIP now) used to steal it all the time and I used to steal his copy of NORE - God's Favorite for Grimey

I'm still amazed Atari Teenage Riot toured with Wu Tang at one point, and glad I caught it as a teen -w- .

Can't listen to most dubstep/dnb right now. It's not ruined, it's just too fresh it hurts. I'm sure it'll give me nostalgic feelings someday, especially certain DJs/producers/artists. I can still see that person dancing, the facial expression, rhythm, head bobbing, smell, the warmth. Ugh! You're so silly when you dance but fuck, I love you and shit. I just want to smother your face.

The whole album of Esthero's Breath From Another has an effect to me, especially when I listen from beginning to end. I am transformed back to my 18 year old self (when I first heard it), walking under cold Seattle (but not raining), winter day. I can feel coldness hitting my nose and face, extra warm/sweaty skin inside my jacket (from walking all over Downtown), and all senses heightened. It intensified people's expressions and interactions (whether teenagers, corporate slaves, hobos, thugs, and me looking out/taking in). It felt like they played the lyrics to the songs (which I get wrong all the time lol). I think I listened to it for a whole year, going to work (taking the bus/walking) over and over. It also gave rise to my (now) perspective of how complex people's relationships are (based on those same real life drama I ingested/digested), influenced me to stay in shallow [intimate] relationships, and cemented my belief that I will not find that soul I am connected to like those fucking fairy tales. It's a pretty fucked up album, both liberating and imprisoning me at the same time (and tbh, I don't even know half of the lyrics). It forces me to stay in my bubble for months. I think it's about time I give it a listen again.

Dead Prez's Let's Get Free would be the other one but I'll explain that next time. Gonna immerse myself in this shit.

Can't listen to Slam 'Lie to me' without vividly remembering driving down a big highway towards Toronto airport on a cold and drizzly colourless grey day with planes flying overhead, knowing that the holiday was over and things were going to change, I had questions I had to ask that I wouldn't like the answers to but I'd been putting them off until after the holiday. A few days later a 5 year relationship was over.

For less emo memories Joey Beltram's 'Energy Flash' and a real rushing coming up moment looking over Atomic Jam at Que club from the balcony....a couple of thousand people reaching for the green lazers through the smoke machines as I take a big toke.

When Loefah dropped Badman at that DMZ in Corsica Studios, probably the most 'proper dubstep' moment I've had. Everyone eyes down, getting pressurised by the bass, atmosphere saturated with sweat condensation and weed smoke. Ahh memories..

i played this all the time when i was in kazan in russia, pretty far north, a couple of summers ago, mainly cos i used to know a guy called daniel who was russian and i had a bit of a thing for him, but the tune doesn't mean anything to me in relation to that anymore. one time i was going home after a night out and it was 3am and it looked like the middle of the day, it was so bright, and i just played this. everytime i play it i remember how the heat smelled and the dust from the cars, the way the radio would always be on really quiet with some guy talking really fast while i ate breakfast in this tiny kitchen, sun shining, the huge housing complexes, just everything about that place. i miss russia :(
