The mixing was clever but it didn't give enough 'space' to the tracks. Works well as a blend of different atmospheres though.

Tracks themselves did seem to lack some intensity, I think there should be more textures, details and variation. Great ideas and soundscapes, but nothing to follow, no surprises, not a single calm moment. There's some excellent drumwork and melodic elements but it's hard to grasp the substance of these tracks. Slips too easily on the background.

Overall production was good, nothing to complain about, even I'm listening on crappy desktop speakers at work.

The tracks 'Sagrada' and 'Taiko riddim' are definately the bright spots here.

I did a minimix for the Annie Mac show. Going to send it in later this week. 5 mins and 30 something tunes. Beat matched records and assembled them on the computer...from Loefah to a pitched up beastie boys accapella over the lo fidelity allstars and vadim....crazy stuff but good fun!

Hye Pete, will listen to this when I get a chance -

could you send me some HQ mp3's? I've managed to lose your CD after playing it a few times, and I'm gutted!

bze - Cheers for that man, it's kinda hard to get the substance of the tracks in the mix when each one has to be less than a minute long including the mix of the tunes. Perhaps, the mi simply needs to be longer to suit my tunes? But that does kinda defeat the point! Anything you would suggest?

Threondy - yeah this was a lot of fun, bumping round the studio cutting the records or trying some smoothmixing, I'd recommend it to anyone for just a jokes session. Even more fun because it was my own tunes!

Yeah, cheers for the all the words guys. I guess doing a short mix like this requires you more or less to have an idea of the tunes beforehand? Perhaps that's why Cyrus' and Benga's minimix worked better (obviously the quality of tunes), the fact that you knida knew what the tunes were doing? Whereas my stuff is relatively unheard and not the same style as those boys?

And Alien Strain has been played a few times now by different people, always seem to go off, brings a smile to all the old dnb heads as well (and a frown o all the purists :D ).

pete, i am totaly in love with Smerins...
Great track ! Even i use to accelerate the tempo in order to play it with other halfstep tracks...
Hope there is no offense with that ?

Hahaha, no offence taken of course! It is a slow track, and you guys are the dj's entitled to play it out however the fuck you want to play it out :D I'm just happy it's getting played at all. I just find personally it sounds better slower, the horns kinda demand a slower tempo :P

As I said the mixing itself was very clever, the lack-of-substance-comment was about the tracks themselves. I like intense, layered soundscapes, this was pretty much the thing, but somehow the production was a bit inert. Though I think this feeling was mostly because your productions are pretty much unknown to me. Dunno.

Post us a full mix next time 8)
