.wav to mp3 conversion

alright everybody im having a bit of a problem. my mac doesnt have internet and for some reason, my audacity is refusing to work with the lamelib files i transfered from my pc so i could convert my .wavs into mp3's. so my question is, whats the best free programme on the net other then audacity which u can use to convert .wavs to mp3's?
basically if i have to walk between these two machines anymore only to find that any more programmes dont work im gonna go fuckin insane!

itunes does it, just right click on the file in your itunes library and click convert to mp3

i use iTunes. make sure you set your default settings to .mp3, otherwise it might go to aiff, etc..

or logic express 7. I think you may be able to find a cracked copy of it some where on the net. Not that i would condone this king of behavour.

everyones got a cracked version of logic 7 express - standard.
yeh im gonna try these above ideas, im just wondering whether itunes will allow different bit(?) rates like 320, 192 etc etc?
