I was going to be using a Raspberry PI for my dissertation module but I couldn't get hold of one in time before my project proposal deadline was due in.

It can run various Linux distros (similar to the Raspberry PI), so it can pretty much do everything a computer can do and more.

Why is this guy wasting his time with this stuff when he could be making more Rollercoaster Tycoon sequels?

He just kind of up and disappeared from the game dev scene round 2003 I think besides being about OpenTTD i think.
Shame because he was hardcore, he coded most of RCT in ASM as I recall.
Edit: nix that I was thinking of Chris Sawyer.

Braben did however just start a kickstarter for a new sequel to Elite http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/146 ... -dangerous

Love the various applications for Raspberry Pi people are coming up with... fuckin' satellites... fuckin' MIDI controllers... HELLZ YES sez I!

Moar satellites!!! Moar MIDI controllers! Moar Satellites That Are MIDI Controllers Too! :6: :corndance: :6: :corndance: :6:

Also love the RapRep/fabrication/3d printing stuff that's starting to finally take off.

And this - well, seeing as I already have a portable studio on a stick [Reaper] no reason why I can't just have the whole fuckin' thing on a stick now.

Music! On a stick! O brave new world... :corndance:

I really am excited about this.

@wobbles:

You can't buy the $25 PC USB stick yet - but I'll keep my ears open.

You can buy Raspberry Pi stuff (also cheap and powerful and lots of possibilities) here I think:
