i wouldn't mind hearing some mixes an' all
a few of my mates used to be bang into it, goa parties in the early 90's and all that
that said most of what i have heard hasn't been my sort of thing so far

There's an awful lot of boring generic psy-trance floating around. I have a good 3 or 4 gigs of the stuff on my HD and honestly there’s probably 20 or 30 tracks that I can be arsed to listen to, although I must say that number goes up substantially when I’m off my face.
Some tracks worth looking into (downloading) include;
Wrecked Machines Vs Bansi - Accustix (despite the annoying high hat this tune is mind bending)
Ergot - Sacred Geometry (Total Sickness rmx)
Total Sickness - Acidosis
GMS - flashback (wizzy noise rmx)
Infected Mushroom - Muse breaks RMX

I'm playng dubstep and breaks at a predominantly psy-trance festival this weekend in Arkansas. It features Simon Posford doing both a Shpongle and Hallucinogen set. I get pretty bored with psytrace, but i'm looking forward to laying shit down on the same system as Shpongle, as i've dug their music for years.
http://www.psymbolic.com/unlock.html?key=/events/ - Gamma Festival. Holla if you wanna go for free, but who the hell lives in Arkansas?

Psy-trance: Music that makes sexy girls look repulsive through the medium of stupid dancing. Oh how I hate it.
Sorry, that's of no help to the original post.

neo hippy music.... go to outdoor psy trance festivals once in a while, like the vibe tho. lots of worldmusic also.
got to agree 5 % is a listing worth, 1 % is collectable.
check artifakt, nice blend with techno and breaks. or on the same label (timecode records) the release "broken". ruff breaks and acid in a psycedelic setting!

I tried listening to some sigh-trance the other day (know your enemy and all that shit)
everything from the artwork to the track titles.... its just so .... dated. seriously, whats the point?

I used to be a regular at Return to the source and Escape from Samsara in Brixton in the mid '90s. I loved that stuff back then. The sets were varied and transitioned throughout the night/morning through Dub ---> Dub Electro ---> Weird Psychedelic breaks ---> Goa/Psy --->Acid Trance --->Acid Techno. More variety than a lot of nights and a great atmosphere. I felt more at home with Rastas, Crusties and Goa kids in big jumpers and huge pupils than a bunch of lads wearing crisp laundered shirts and clean white trainers.
Mix wise, I can't even begin to remember what's good and what isn't. I hardly listen to it anymore. I collected the singles and only had several mixes. One that stuck out was a later Danny Rampling 'cash in on Goa' one. It was messy as all hell, but had some voodoo energy to it that I kind of liked. Sometimes the mood to listen to this stuff still strikes me, so I'll just thrown on an internet radio station.
Strangely enough, I'm hearing a lot of psy style arpeggios in dub tracks and these tracks get big ups, yet the very thing that inspired it is not getting big ups. Weird.

gotta say that Simon is a genius of electronic music, always loved both Hallucinogen and especially Shpongle (and all the other collaborations).
I agree that 99% of 100% is shit in psy-trance and twisted records is the 1% worth a listen.

not really, its all about execution innit. i like "trancey" stuff, but actual trance makes me physically violent, sick and violently sick. its about taking the bits you like and doing something different with it.
