Stock presets?

I don't like to use the stock Ableton presets. Most of the time if I do use one I try to edit it a bit but I've noticed with my most recent tunes I've been working on that I have been using stock presets for stuff like guitars, pianos, drums, etc.
So I'm asking other producers how do you feel about using stock presets? Do you think its cheap or it doesn't sound good? Do you prefer to use everything you've made yourself? I don't want the mood of one of my songs to be broken by hearing a familiar patch or a patch someone else used already.
Do you usually use whatever drums come with your DAW? The drums in my songs are starting to sound too alike since I tend to edit the same sets of stock drums.

Presets, yes...though rarely if ever if an unedited format.

Drum samples, no. The stock FL samples are pretty pony.

I do use stock presets, however, like wub, I tend to tweak them.

And never would I use the stock drum samples in FL. They are absolutely horrible, imo.

Starting building a tune around an arp preset last night, had two instances of the same instrument running the same preset, with the filter on one automated so that sound has a bit more of an organic feel about it.

Very creative, I must say. I think I'll have a go with something similar, when I get home tonight. :D

I use the Ableton pianos and strings a lot, along with most of the effects. I think they're really, really great honestly. Their synths are tacky, and I wouldn't use those.

Though when I do use the pianos, I tend to effect/process them a lot, to get a more natural sound. Reverb, slight delays, shimmer, reverses, not quantizing, stuff like that.

I use some stock presets, tweak them and process most of my sounds alot though. If it's a sound I think fits perfectly in a track, I'll use it, dont really give a shit if I've made it myself or not if it's the case.

Nothing wrong with using a preset as a starting point. Like others I will usually tweak to taste as its very rarely I find a preset that sounds like it fits perfectly into the song I am working on as is.
