Is there a joke everyone uses where they ALL say "detuned saws." in reaponse to practically EVERYTHING sound production related.

There's no way every sound is detuned saws. And can someone give me a list of detunations?

Example:

Saw: 0.00
Saw: 0.15
Saw: -12.00

A list of some good synchronized detuned saws would be nice.
This just seems ridiculous how many times I see the answer being "detuned saws."

Naw, saws are just really popular for leads (and squares for bass). Not that saws ARE for leads and squares ARE for bass, it's just popular in production. And detuning is probably the most used trick to add character to a waveform.

There's really no 'right' way to detune. Just do what sounds right. Look at presets, sometimes they detune a waveform with something random like -16 or -37.

Probably because most sounds people ask for are detuned saws in different contexts (e.g. reeses, supersaw leads, growls etc...)

That's one lame ass joke, I think the forum can do better.

Don't think its really a joke but rather a generic answer to a number of generic questions...similar to "try resampling"

Is the phase "detuned saws" a forum in joke? No. Everyone just keeps on asking about reeses, super saw pads and basses. eg the same sounds every week.

resample it 4 or 5 times i cannot stress enough that you can't get this sound without resampling

No it's not, maybe if you didn't ask the same question every other week you'd get a different answer
