It's one thing to look up to some artist--& another to spend every session trying to sound just like them...

It seems like everyday new producers are asking "how do I make music like skrillex" or "How do I make this monster bass, I have massive but its not a preset". Its Starting to get to me. You can copy other artists as much as they want to but they cant copy and paste originality. They think theyre original but they all use the same robot womp sound and think its original. Bro......bro.....bro....Make your own music!!

When I first started to use Ableton, about 1,5 years ago, I didn't know shit. When I was a bit lost, someone told me (don't know who anymore): if you have difficulties enhancing your skills or channeling your creativity, try to recreate tunes or sounds that you love. Eventually you'll have enough tools to express yourself and to design your own sounds.

The guy was right.

Through recreating sounds I discovered how to properly split bass frequencies, how to manipulate and enrich synth leads, how to put a life into hats etc etc.

So there is totally nothing wrong with that, imo. And if some dude you don't know, somewhere in a flat in Birmingham or Hull, is trying to recreate 6000 Skrillex-basses in a row...what do you care? That's his loss.
