i'm going to begin the season with misguided optimism and end it in stoically.
just like every year
but i really do think we've got a good chance of winning something this year. big sam has rejuvenated the squad, made some smart buys and our first game of the season was very encouraging.
so we shall see.

I think your boys will be alright this season Boomnoise, I'm a Derby fan ( someone has to be ) and I know we'll struggle this season but we'll stay up, we've been condemned by many but no-one aid we would win the play off final last year....

All down to Luton ledge-end Steve Howard though weren't it? which is a bit like how Sunderland relied on Carlos Edwards at the end of last season as well... whilst the mighty hatters plummetted down.....

Howard played a major part yeah but I wouldn't say we relied on him, Barnes played a big part, as did Oakley, Pearson, Moore.....but yeah Howards goals were more than helpful. We should be alright this season but we need 4/5 new players before the end of the month.

I think Derby have done pretty well in their two games so far, however i still think they will go down.
We've drawn two games but only because we're a bit short on strikers weve created enough chances and just not put em away - Saha, Solskjaer and Aderson should be fit soon and i believe had Hargreaves been playing yesterday Mwaruwari wouldn't have got a free header
Fuck it last time we drew our first two games we won the treble so I'm not too worried

Yeah I've been impressed so far with how we've done, I don't think Brum will stay up, or Wigan, and us and Sunderland will be around 16/17 place, ever the optimist....

I'll wait and see what happens before the window shuts but I'm willing to put £ on us staying up!
It'll be close this year between you and Chelski Mcr, I can see it going down to the last game or two.

Thank God Sky "Perfect" got their lives sorted out and they'll be showing the Prem in Japan from next Saturday (at last). We get it pretty sweet because we don't have the blackout where Prem games can't be shown on TV live on Saturday afternoons. Means I have a choice of 4 or 5 Prem games live every Saturday, and the games are replayed throughout the week.
Oh, and come on the Hammers. England's most hated

Pearson is a good player, always impressed my at Celtic in the few games he got, and was pretty damn good for motherwell. Nice to see him getting first team starts again.
I reckon he'd have won you a pen. if he'd gone down in the box last night, some blatant shoving by the man city defender (Richards? Can't remember...)
Anyway, Derby will have to produce some serious fighting form to avoid the drop this year, cos a lot of the lower/recently-promoted teams are looking decent this year. Reading, Sunderland and Birmingham all look tough to beat.
Nice to see Garry O'Connor score on his prem league debut too! Obviously the hardcore russian training regimes have worked on him...
And Man City! Fucking helll... With them on the upsurge, and England's international team looking generally as haphazard as usual, Sven haters eat your heart out!

Is that one of those "buying property abroad" programmes that gets repeated on More4 24/7?
Can't imagine what else you mean by it...

yeah I agree, we'll have to play stupidly well every week but we look like a touch side from what I've seen so far, I'm a lot happier than I thought I wold be anyway, a lot of credit has to go the manager, he's extremely underrated but that works well for us ( Season before he came we nearly got relegated and nearly went into administration ). Pearson is a great player, one of our best imo, his runs and goals from midfield this year are going to be a major part in us staying up (and that was a baltant pen!). I'm a realist though and know we are going to get hammered a couple of times but we'll come good.
And I thought Man City's owner had an arrest warrant out after him?! Easy pickings last night, just wait outside the ground...
