Although as has been said, it's a list, who cares, etc. I'd expect everyone should be happy DJs highly rated around here (Ben UFO, Joy O, etc) are getting more recognition which they deserve!

It's all pretty logical when you think about it:

Joy is a sick DJ, crosses over to the House & Techno scene more than most of the UK DJs, makes House & Techno and just did an RA podcast. In the top 20.
Ben is a sick DJ, a bit of an RA-user darling but doesn't make his own tracks. Just outside the top 20.
Oneman is a sick DJ but crosses least over to the House & Techno scene, doesn't really get RA press and has never done an RA podcast. Not featured.

If Oney was to do a podcast next year I'm sure he'd end up in there. Did any of you vote for him this year? It's not a poll based on skill. It's based on RA-user popularity.

That's not to discredit Joy whatsoever. IMO he thoroughly deserves to be in that top 20. No one I'd rather see in there.

Just an answer to the Oneman posts.

You guys have the power to influence it next year if you don't like the results.

most (if not all) djs on the list are house/techno djs, guessing oneman isnt the sort of dj that RA readers look into that much because of his wider selection.

I tried to but RA's voting system wouldn't let me because you can only vote for people who have played at events you've marked as attending on their site. I didn't do that for 81502 so I couldn't vote for him and ended up not being able to vote for anyone I wanted to. If you were free to vote for whoever you wanted to then the list would have been different.

That whole event thing is fucking stupid. Yeah I haven't been to a Oneman show this year but I've listened to 90% of his rinse podcasts and his boiler room shows. So let me vote god dammit.

Anyway, it's a million fold more credible and interesting than the DJ Mag one. Some great, great DJs in that list. Stop hatin'.

The whole events thing is designed so people vote for who they've been to see in the past 12 months. I prefer it that way.
I was expecting to see Jones #1 for another year seeing as he went Top 40 recently, but that events rule clearly means something.
