all sounds good mate would rate some keys and sliders for def, and one that doesnt take much time to set up all the controls if there was one that was almost plug and play for ableton i would be loving it! lol

I have the version without keys and i don't know how i lived without it

session i was looking at those and they seem pretty tasty! would have to get one with keys tho cos i cant bear this tappin in business ne more so hard to get a feel and make it sound human!

for ease of setup you can't beat the novation sl series with automap...keys are also the best quality imo...nice and springy with a good weighty synth feel...pads are smallish but solid...sliders are short throw but good quality...not sure about UK pricing but i think the 2 or 3 octave model falls in your price range...
heard conflicting reports about the newish m-audio controllers w/ the pads...some folks say the pads wear out quickly and i know for a fact that the keys do not feel as solid as the novation's...still not as cheap as the older m-audio stuff like my radium61
...
for pads i would recommend the akai controllers simply because...they know pads...end of story...i own both the mpd-16 and mpd-24 and love them although they do require a little time to setup properly...i think the m-audio trigger finger just got a price drop...and there is the comparably priced korg pad control if you fancy flashing pink lights but no sliders and only one knob...hope that helps

Ableton is pretty good at dealing wiht midi-input, so this shouldn't be a problem. It amazed me with its "plug and play-ness" when I got a midi controller!trigga!!! wrote: if there was one that was almost plug and play for ableton i would be loving it! lol

Might want to check out http://faderfox.de/ ...they make controllers specifically for Live.
