Hi guys, so I've been producing for a while and I wanted to start to learn to DJ so I can start playing out at small events and such. Almost all these events use CDJ's, usually pioneers, so I definitely wanted to get CDJ's, maybe pioneers. I have absolutely no knowledge of DJ-ing or what I'm going to need really though, or what is the best stuff to buy so I was hoping someone would be able to help Is buying a mixer essential when buying cdj's? (may sound stupid but i know nothing ). The only stuff I have atm is a mac, soundcard, and loads of cd's. My budget is probably an absolute maximum of £800, is this realistic?

Yes it is absolutely essential.

Download the free home version of Virtual DJ and play with it.
You'll at least get a grasp on concept of DJing.

do more research, and then do some more research, and then download some free software and dj with your mouse, and then do some more research, and then maybe buy some equipment.

You could pick up a couple of older model pioneers for around 800 on gumtree, along with a cheap mixer.
The mixer is kind of essential to...you know, mix.

Already have had virtual dj for a long time and have used it a fair bit, also have practiced with mates usb decks a lot. As for the person suggesting research, this is kinda me researching dude haha :L I'll have a look on gumtree see what I find as well thanks guys! sorry for the bait question haha

Well, you asked if mixer is essential and you said you know nothing, so i kinda assumed it might help you out.
