Starting off 2013 is an incredible line up of low-end focused music pioneers. Our 1st birthday is set to be Submit's finest show to date.

LOEFAH

As a founding member of DMZ (with Mala & Coki) Loefah helped to develop a sound that went on to take over the world. Releasing a series of classic 12-inches (“Mud”, “The Goat Stare”…) and hosting seminal clubnights at Mass in Brixton, DMZ cemented themselves a status as a legendary Dubstep label & night.
Not content with starting one game-changing label, Loefah founded Swamp 81 in 2009. Swamp releases from Addison Groove, Boddika, Joy O, Mickey Pearce alongside Loefah’s regular Rinse FM show and extensive DJing have been at the forefront of the genre-defying UK Bass sound. Blending the bass weight of his Dubstep background with House, Techno & Electro and a healthy dose of 808 worship. His latest venture with Katie Thiebaud & Jan Francis, Schl Records arrived on the scene in late 2012. With a more House focused music policy and a sterling first release (Dusky – ‘Calling Me’) his set at Submit’s 1st Birthday should give you a taste of what Loefah has in store for imprint no.3 in 2013.

DARK SKY

Since early 2011, London based trio Dark Sky have managed to visit all corners of the bass music map. While "Neon" can be considered Dark Sky's best production, the Radius EP has (until now) been the outfit's highest achievement. Now with their latest release on Modeselektor's 50 Weapons, Myriam EP, Dark Sky have raised their game to push their identities way ahead of the scene, offering various takes on low-end-focused club music with an emphasis on original sound design. If you haven't listened to their destructive rework of Kelis' "Brave" then stop what you're doing and listen to it now.

DjRUM

Regarded as one of the leading UK bass producers, his 2010 release Mountains, showcases a startling knack for sample manipulation to form a rich and cinematic landscape. Most strikingly, DjRUM isn’t afraid of navigating through a range of tempos and soundworlds, refracting each in turn through his distinctive lens. DjRUM’s easy eclecticism stems from his early DJ career where he made a name for himself long before entering the studio. His sets can encompass anything from the deepest of dub techno to the high octane rush of ghettotech. It’s rare for a producer to successfully bridge the divide between atmospheric and high-energy but with another single and an album for 2nd Drop on their way this year, it’s clearly a formula that’s worked for DjRUM.

Submit Recommends: DjRUM's Resident Advisor podcast needs a special mention. It's use of rare jazz samples, dialogues and field recordings mixed with music both past and present creates a mix that can only be described as timeless - "I wanted this mix to stay on people's iPods for as long as possible and to linger in the mind" - Felix Manuel AKA DjRUM

"Your set was the highlight [of Dimension Festival] for me, most energised and exciting 'real' dj set I've heard/seen in years. Inspiring!" - Tom Middleton

INDIGO

After helping launch Submit in January 2012 we’re pretty excited to have Indigo back in our ranks after a busy year for both Submit and Indigo. In the past year his imprint 'Mindset Records' put out 5 forward thinking 12-inches and he released his own material on a diverse set of labels (Exit Records, Hypercolour, Auxiliary, On The Edge & Apollo/R&S). Since 2008 his productions have been destroying the boundaries between Techno, Dubstep and Electronica. His recent techno output is supplied with hints of Bristol weight and the dissonance of Berlin - 'Wake EP' is a Submit favourite and has been supported by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Maya Jane Coles & Untold. Add to all that the success of the Mindset records podcast and his Boiler Room mix and it's clear Indigo's impressive rise is set to continue.
