i have a PC, laptop, monitors, tt's a small interface and a headphone amp. i have managed to get them all running to my monitors, i have line in to my pc for recording with a mic or vinyl. its pretty good. one thing that ruins it all is the noise! earth loops or what ever it is. its all descent hardware as well. :u:
am i up for 40$ cables or is there an alternative?

If you are running everything off the same outlet or power strip it probably is a ground loop. Plug the monitors into a different outlet if you can. Otherwise look into ground loop interrupters, I used one for a while. Also, a decent power conditioner can sort this issue. With all that audio signal if you are running it all on the same power circuit you are bound to get noise. Cables are probably not the issue here.

Some of the best money I ever spent on my studio was investing in a couple power conditioners. Sorted all the noise in my monitors.

BTW, for Travis or anyone else interested--you could also unplug/turn off things one at a time to see which piece of equipment is causing the noise.

I've had this problem many times with different laptop and speaker/amp combos, the fault always seems to lie with the grounding of the laptop charger.

+1 for a power conditioner, it sorted my problems out. Mine only cost £30 from Richer Sounds.

No you don't need one for every plug. Both my conditioners are multi plug ones. I have a Fuhrman rack mount one and a Monster power strip. Monster makes a little conditioner thing you can plug into your wall socket, I think, but I've never used one.
