Good way to find shows in NYC

I'm looking to get out to more shows. Partly to enjoy the music and party for networking and meeting like-minded artists and promoters and what have you..

However, apart from looking at the webster hall calendar I find it hard to find events in NYC. (even though i'm sure there are thousands) Could someone perhaps recommend some smaller venues, or promotion sites, or whatever can help me. Say I wanted to go to a dubstep/house/trap/moohbah/etc DJ show TONIGHT or, tomorrow, day after tomorrow the latest? What would YOU do.

Depends what type of sound you are into

Deep Space Mondays at Cielo

Reconstrvct in BK every other month or so

Turbotax every couple of months

(The calendar on residentadvisor.net is your friend)

At the risk of sounding silly, you did check the Events section here, yes?

Seems to be a metric shit-ton of shows listed in NYC.

Not so sure about this site, but could be worth peeking at now and again:

Reconstrvct, Trouble & Bass, Konkrete Jungle, Deeper NYC. also check Resident Advisor. and the events forum

also there's a lot of random one-off stuff that's never really all promoted in the same place but once you find some you'll find more than enough to keep you happy

Go find the LES record shops. They'll point you in the right direction! ;-)
